no you dont you can play any sims game on the ds with out the 1st one released as they stand on there own(not like the pc one where you need the original)
hi..like above said..nope u dont need to get the sims2 to play other sims games...i recommend that if u did get a sims game though to get sims 2 castaway..i think its the best sims game on the ds (so far)
