So I was wondering if the Wiimote is a must to play this game? Do we need to stand up and swing the motion controller around? Or can we sit and play it like an Xbox or PS controller style game?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
You need a Wii remote with Motion Plus (the bundle that comes with the game is the cheapest deal) to play the game. And no, you're not forced to stand up to play this game. You can sit down and move the sword the same way.

no offense man but have you been under a rock for the past 2 years?
nintendo has been saying since day 1 that this game will only use wiimotion plus. also if youve been playing wii for years now you would figure out you dont need to stand up for any game, it works just as well sitting down

I've not been following it. I like the Zelda games but I've just not been following the development of the game. I don't own a Wii either.[QUOTE="Twisted14"]I've only really played Wii sports. You REALLY should try some other Wii Games that utilize the motion controls correctly, I think you'd learn to like Motion for some games (most people that rag and tease Motion controls are those that never tried them or have tried them on a kiosk tech demo that I don't know who keeps picking the crap that goes into the stations - I heard it was Nintendo and if so, they SERIOUSLY need to pick better games for their Kiosks because that turns ALOT of people off from Motion Controls - and get a bad experience from the game they played and think they all play like that - the second one is understandable because I and appalled at some of the games they have in the Wii's at the game stores such as WiiPlay Motion then look right next to them and see Madden and Arkham City - Even though I don't play Madden). Motion works great for some genre's but there are some that Motion Controls are not good for. Give Red Steel 2, Metroid Prime: Corruption, Dead Space: Extraction, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, of Course the Mario Galaxy games, Little King's Story (Which I heard has a sequel that is going to the Playstation soon called New Little King's Story), Call of Duty WAW/MWR/BO/MW3 (Yes Call of Duty - this game plays absolutely great with Motion controls), Goldeneye 007 (One of the best FPS on the Wii), Dragonball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Hands Down Best Controls for a Dragonball Game YET), Punch Out Wii, ExciteBots and Donkey Kong Country Returns a try. I'm sure after you've played some games that actually utilize Motion Controls correctly, you'll like them. Normally I don't give people advice like this but in this case I just felt like it was worth the effort.Who stands up to play Wii games?
Ok, other than a couple of the Wii sports games that are a little easier and a little more fun to stand up for.

Oh no, it's entirely 1:1. Multiple previews I've read have said waggling will result in you dying. You need to take the swordplay seriously.I haven't really heard any complaints about the controls, so it probably isn't the dreaded "waggle" you sometimes get on the Wii. It will likely play smoothly.

People still believe this in 2011?
I think they even stopped standing up in the commercials at this point, lol.
You can sit down to play every (99%?) Wii game. Maybe it makes more sense to stand up during golf but I assure you people have found ways to play it while sitting XD
Oh and when you are pointing the Wiimote your arm should rest on your lap. Some people actually hold their arm up in the air and complain it hurts after awhile.
You need a gyro sensor for the sword combat and the IR pointer for a thousand times better accuracy and speed than an analog stick, or they would have to drastically change the game (i.e. nerf) to be playable with a regular controller.
TLDR you need a Wiimote with either WM+ built into it or the WM+ extenstion unit to play this game (and a nunchuck), you can sit down for the entire game and no your arm won't get tired.
However when playing a Wii game I always sit up straight, you can't really be lying down while playing this game or in some lazy position, I'd say.
...terribly disappointing for me. Might be the first major zelda release I skip (ever)Wiimote Plus is required. You cannot play it like a xbox or standard ps3 controller. You will swing a motion controller around because that is how Nintendo wants you to play the game.

I play most of the games from a standup position. Is better for me and I even adjusted my screen to be high enough when I play in this position. Is more fun for me and now I even play the GC and VC games standing up whenever I can :) RegardsWho stands up to play Wii games?

It isn't supporting M+ so you can pretend you have a sword. It's about designing puzzles and enemies around this ability. And if you looked around, you'd see reviewers praising this design to no end. I have myself played SS last year and it is, indeed, a blast, and for reasons beyond the 1:1 sword fighting as well. SS will keep getting near perfect or perfect scores and you'll miss that because you have no idea what you are talking about.

But I also stand on games that use a traditional conroller because I feel I play better when I stand up.
Though for some Wii games I lay in bed when I play them.

Why own a console with the idea around motion controls to begin with then?
Plus, you'd never know if you like it or not until you try it.

Though none of the games I own force you to use motion controls. I have no issue with them being an option. I just don't enjoy them when I am forced to use them.

It could also be that it's frustrating to know someone's not even going to give the game a shot, despite all the advice to do so. I think those are the reasons people are upset. I can't say I am one, or I'm not one. You have your own life, but I too think you should try the game and it's controls fully before you judge it, though I don't resent you for doing otherwise. :)He hasn't once hated on anything :? It wouldn't be the same game without it though. It would have been nice if the Big N had included the option to play without the Wii Motion Plus. If you don't have it, it forces you to plunk down more money for a Wii Motion Plus, the WiiMote Plus, or the special edition of the game.

Its quite disappointing that such a classic game requires you to actually utilize the motion sensing controls in order to play. Its as though Nintendo have forgotten about their hardcore gaming fans that just want to sit back and rock a game old school style.yourmate
Yeah let's slow down the progression of gaming evolution because we are lazy.
