I've been trying for 2 weeks now to get one. The stores out here get between 1 and 10 Wiis at a time. The CSRs are bringing them out to the video game sections of the stores and not even making it all the way before people are taking them from them. Toys R Us had 20 last weekend and they sold out by 10:03 Am. The store opened at 10:00.
It's ridiculous. I don't understand why Nintedo doesn't make more of them. I guess they are worried that the market will flood and then they'll have to start making better games. I heard there's only like 5 games for this that are worth your time but that those games are just downright fun.
Good for you for getting one...let me know what you think!
Excite Truck is one of my favorite games. In all honesty, I think it's arguably one of the best games for the Wii. I clocked more hours into this game than any other game I owned for the Wii. It's so fun, and so easy to learn, it's just tilts of your controller as if it were a steering wheel. If you like to get EVERYTHING in a game, like getting all S classes to unlock more modes, and more trucks and paint jobs it will easily take over 40+ hours to do. The more you play the harder the modes get, and can get real frustrating.
What's also great about this game is it may be the only game available for the Wii right now that allows you to add your own music into the game. When I first found out about that, it completly added a new whole aspect to the game. Believe me, there is nothing insanely fun as listening to "One-Winged Angel" from the Final Fantasy Advent Children soundtrack while smashing trucks, getting tree runs, or some sick drifts. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it heh.
This game is just so great in many ways, I think what stands out is definetly the simplicity of the controls... its just a new type of genre for racing games, seeing that getting first place isn't everything... its just points (getting first gives you an extra 50 points). You know the saying, "Graphics isn't everything."? This game is a perfect example.
I mean, atleast you should try to rent it.
Also if you're in AUS or Europe, get Mario Strikers, it's the best online game for the Wii right now, and most likely will be for a while.
I recommend Sonic and the Secret Rings. Madden is also pretty good. Get Zelda of course. Check out Paper Mario and Godfather.
And also try out Red Steel. I rented it and it's pretty fun. Not as bad as everyone says. I like the sword fights a lot.
And whatever you do, please don't get Wii play unless you're very desperate for a Wii-mote. It's really not worth the extra 10 bucks.
Zelda TP is a must. Trauma Center is very fun also. Super Paper Mario is fun, but lots of reading in it. If you want another really fun multiplayer game get Warioware Smooth Moves (Best uses of the remote to date IMO).
Secondly, for the guy who complained about not being able to get one and wants Nintendo to make more, they are at full production right now and the demand is just too much so they cant make them fast enough. It's not like Nintendo is sitting there and going "oh lets hold off until the current batch sells, and make them want it more"
