So, is wii getting a price drop in about a week? Anyone here think the rumors are true? Rumor link

Never belive rumors no matter what IMO.

I'd say "use your brains when ir comes to rumours" instead.
So, lets think it:
- Both PS3 and X360 had a price drop recently.
- The price reduction had a huge impact onPS3 hardware sales.
- The X360 price seems to be going down againto $250, the same price as a Wii.
- The wii had no price drop since launch.
It seems logical to me that a price drop is comming for the Wii too, in the next 2 months probably.
This is not a rumor. It is 100% true. People who work in retail have been freaking told about this. I'm assuming all of you don't work in retail, so that is why all of you are swimming in the long African river...
It only makes sense that Nintendo would have to lower their price to keep below their competitors. Maybe someone has the real numbers (I used to know how much it costs to manufacture these consoles, but production costs go down over time), but I'd be surprised if Microsoft doesn't still lose money on a $250 360 and Nintendo still makes money on a $200 Wii.

The funny thing is that the Wii has seen the other systems released at a similar price point to its own before that has had no effect on the system's sales (Xbox 360 Arcade), so I'm not quite sure if I buy that completely. Honestly, this is one of those moves by Nintendo I don't understand. Before the gaming public can even figure out the effects of the other system's price drops on the Wii, Nintendo makes a reaction to it, which hasn't been something it has done a lot this gen. It actually goes against Nintendo's strategy of going down a different road, I think. The Wii was doing quite well where it was, contrary to how a lot of people want to make it look. It's only problem was that it hasn't had releases that were must-have titles by the mainstream, with the exception of Wii Sports Resort, which came out half-way through the year.
Given the fact that Nintendo has games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit plus coming out in time for the holiday season, has seen what System/Game Bundles like the Monster Hunter Tri Hunter/Black Wii combo can do to spark system sales, and still has other things it can do to to generate, like releasing a Player's Choice lineup or new colors, this was the last thing I expected Nintendo to do. To top it off, I really don't know how much of an effect a $50 drop will be at the end of the day. Some people may be a tad more interested, but I would really call it an aggressive move on Nintendo's part, especially given that the other system's dropped at least $100 off of their main SKUs. It just feels like Nintendo made a move that was a non-move, if you get my drift. :P
Oh well. I guess we'll find out the answer to all of these things in the near future.
It's obviously true. It's been seen in 3 ads now. A Walmart, Best Buy, and Taget add all taking place on the 27th. Its about time too. Now they just need to drop the price of the DS, it hasn't had a price drop since August of 2005.

thats one reason why in a recent interview with owner of netflicks he said that his goal is to get netflicks in every entertainment media from t.vs to dvd players and all major gaming systemsIt was official as soon as it leaked. Are you people really too young to be working in retail?
Oh, that's right. I'm on the Wii boards, which is full of... take a guess.
