better than the PS2 one I am pretty certain
PS2 was riddled with far too many games, a lot of them being rubbish, and nearly all great ones being realistic graphics, a game consisting of a fox that is celshaded and no one particularly knows much about doesn't go down brilliantly on a console like that
wii on the other hand seems to have a great time selling that stuff
But Nintendo fans tend to screw with third parties sometime. I really think we could see betteer things if this game actually sold.Cyber-
not capcom, RE4, REmake and viewtiful joe did well on GC.
No More Heores (I know it's ubisoft in america, but come on suda 51 is a capcom name...) and RE4 Wii are both doing really well. Whereas Zack and Wiki isn't as much of a bomb as people make out, it sold better than the original okami.

but this will be pretty significant if it sells as well as RE4
[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]It'll do better then the PS2 but it wont be a hit.
It just has too much going against it. From the awful box art to the control scheme I just don't see it catching on.

The boxart is improved from the original, whether you love it or hate it will stand out way more than the tan colored PS2 box.
Yeah it'll stand out as a girls only title
It's a purple cover with a big white dog and pink hearts floating around.
Capcom sees a male dominated market and throws out a big white dog jumping in front of a purple background with pink hearts swirling about. It kills the ability to have the window shopper pick it up.

Possibly but at least people will notice it.
I know this game isn't a straight port like RE4 was, but the $40 price tag is $10 too much for me. I'll pick it up in a few months, or whenever i find it on sale, but I definetely will buy it.
I feel that will be the sentiment for a lot of gamers, Capcom had a good launch date of mid-march, but then pushed it back due to Brawl Syndrome. Unlike Opoona, they really did add details like full 16:9, a paper filter, and a bit faster load time. This will make the game better, and will help the retain rate.
Let's just hope those people who started the Okami petition buy the Wii version, many of them went the 360 route, leaving us Wii owners to pick up the slack.

yes because the window shopper knows the controls before he buys it...
it better do or i will break thumbs (osan0s Legal team: osan0 will not actually break thumbs). thats right....anyone who doesent buy it will not be able to play games until their thumbs heal....they diserve that punishment (Legal again: this poster does not speak for the osan0 organisation. osan0 does not in any way back this poster nor does it endorse the act of breaking thumbs). :P
nah seriosuly....if it can break 500,000 worldwide then they would be fantastic (and if it breaks a million then that would be a miracle). i know ill be getting it day one when it hits europe.

I actually agree with this. The cover should consist of an inside view of a vicious wolfs mouth With a Japanese red sun inside. No kidding, it might not totally fit the game's theme, but a little marketing never hurt anyone.

Nothing to me but I don't have a problem with SSX's control scheme either.
I do think it's going to turn some people off the way the controls turned off people who played SSX. Having to do very precise motions at a certain pace will bother some people.

I also agree that it is a false assessment. Just because it does not have military gym bunnies, guns and mortar explosions don't mean that male consumers wont find the box art appealing. Ok I know what you mean. But it's kinda different to Blur cuz with Okami you don't have to go fast to draw the symbols. You can take your time if you want unlike Blur which was more stressful. Video games are a male dominated market and a large portion of users also are in the age range where they're hmmmm, let's just say "aware of their peers and how they're looked upon" which means a large chunk of the buying public is more likely to make fun of that boxart rather then praise it.

A company deserves to fail if they wont appeal to the entire market. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case. It does seem like a perfect fit but every hands on impressions I've read/heard regarding the Wii Okami says the celestial brush is way oversensitive, making even simple motions like slashes and circles frustrating and inaccurate to pull off comapred to the ps2 version. It's a shame because I was planning on purchasing the game again, but if the control isn't better I really don't see the point.

That's just an opinionated generalization. Demographics for gamers are changing everyday. No longer are all gamers sixteen year old anti-social nerds. If that were true, all games would be about guns and military items to sell. Something different is appealing this gen, just look at the sales.Nintendo is building a foundation that includes non-gamers, former gamers, casuals and hardcore. You should read the link in my sig about Nintendo's business strategy and you'll see that there is a method to their madness, and it's already a huge success and will grow even larger.

I've read it and this is a perfect example of a dev NOT seeing what Nintendo is doing.
The game for the most part is a Zelda clone with a dog and brush introduced. Instead of trying to appeal to that Zelda fanbase already on the Wii they abandon it completely.
Then if we're looking at all people who play games, males (gamer or not) are going to be less apt to pick up a game that's covered in pink hearts and read the back of the box.
See that's the real loser in all of this. It's the "novice" who is going by the box art and the box art says that this is not a game for males. Right there you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Quite frankly I think that anyone who would make fun of that boxart is probably someone who doesn't own a Wii in the first place.

I was actually ignoring the box art stuff lol, was asking bout the control thingy
btw the controls for most of this are apparently brilliant, the brush works so well, according to a few previews. I get what you mean about drawing the symbols, but the symbols are all so simple it shouldn't be a problem, like circle + line from it = bomb, line through enemy = slash. plus you can see the drawing, so it's not gonna be a mystery to what went wrong

Doesn't that do damage as well?
Why alienate potential future buyers of the system? Why give them a reason to not want the system?
Capcom pays people money to make boxart, it's not a favor to the president's son or the game devs wife. They pay good money to a company to make this boxart.
In advertising you want to go as neutral as possible when you're aiming at something without an established base. Okami is brand new with no real following. It's not like it's a Mario title where you can just put the Mario title on a blank box and it'll sell like hotcakes.
They had an opportunity to appeal to everyone and they didn't.
Yeah you don't even need to play the game to notice how more intuitive the brush in the Wii version is. And it looks more colorful too, even through youtube quality. Just a matter of time before GameTrailers do a PS2/Wii Okami comparaison.Hey check out this video, it's not the greatest quality but you can see the more fluid and faster motion of the brush strokes of the Wii version in comparison with the PS2 version.

I hope it sells really well. It's a great game. I bought it for PS2 the day it was released. There's so many cool parts in this game and a lot of stuff happens that you'd never expect.
It's a bit too long though. My play time when I beat it was near 60 hours.
Well what are its biggest competitors for money? What kind of commercial? A poster? On TV?
Wii Fit is basically a black money hole, and SSBB will be released around the same time as Okami in europe i think.
It isn't going to be easy.
(btw i saw a commercial of Okami on here, which is more than i ever saw from the first Okami version)
(ow and i think the box art looks really cool)
