Somebody needs to fire Cammie Dunaway

I hate Cammie Dunaway. She's extremely boring, she doesn't know how to play videogames (yet is representing Nintendo), and she is more annoying to me because she is a typical soccer mom. My opinion did of her did not improve after listening to her for an hour at E3.

As you may or may not know, Cammie took Reggie's job after he got promoted. Anyways, I think she's horrible at her job and doesn't deserve to be in the same position that Reggie was in! I think she should be fired! Who's with me!

Hmm... so Nintendo should fire someone simply because that person's an average parent with seemingly limited gaming experience, and comes off as boring to some people when presenting products on behalf of a company that's trying to appeal more to the very same type of people that this person belongs to. Yep, that makes sense. :P Seriously, though, I don't see what all of the hate on this woman is about. Does she hype things on the same level as Reggie Fils-Aime? Of course not, but when aiming for a different consumer, a different perspective tends to help, and that's what Dunaway brings to the table. Considering the success the company has had with its products since she started showing up at E3, I don't think Nintendo should mind her too much. :P

How many moms watch E3 or would actually have any idea who this is? not many I'm willing to bet. Their kids and people like us are the ones watching E3 and we're the ones they should try and appeal to.snowman6251

I don't dislike her or anything and I know that nintendo has a new audience that they must keep in mind, but they could have hired a better person. She's just not qualified for presentation speaking. She has little to no stage presence at all.

Maybe the people she appeals to don't watch E3, but that doesn't mean Nintendo should fire her. While we're on the subject of E3, E3 is a trade show, and the purpose of a trade show is to showcase your products to a wide variety of people. I find it funny that people tend to forget this when EVERY game doesn't appeal to them. :P If it's Nintendo's strategy to aim it's product to more than just 'hardcore' fans, it's probably best that they don't come off as strictly a 'hardcore' company, even if the majority of people who keep tabs of events like E3 claim to be that very thing. Comments like "Someone needs to fire Cammie Dunaway" come off as if the person knows what this lady does both in front of a stage AND behind the scenes. If Nintendo thinks that this person is doing a fine enough job, that should be good enough. If not, I'm sure the company will take measures that suggest that she's not in its best interest.

Why, thank you! I've actually been thinking about changing it, but maybe I'll hold on to it for a while longer now. Sakura, particually during the Shippuden era, is indeed a cool customer.

I don't watch TV on TV much anymore (since all sites post all their shows with like 1 commercial break online) so maybe I'm a bit outdated but that's reassuring to know. E3 makes the front page but the taliban invading pakistan, yeah thats page 6 now. That's actually a more direct attack on the new york times for putting "Swine Flu is now influenza 671839" or w/e its officially called now on the front page with the much more pressing issue on like page 6. Maybe Cammie is really good at whatever she does offstage but could they really not find anyone better than her for onstage time. She really bugs me

While I prefer Reggie as the company's spokesperson I don't have a big problem with Cammie, it is not her fault she almost always gets to announce lame games.

Cammie is not a good public speaker by the looks of the press conference last week. I don't know maybe she knew that those gamers in the crowd could smell her fear. I think if she displayed a lot more energy while presenting you might think differently, then again you probably wouldn't because she is not a person that you will identify with when you game. Its probably really nerve racking for her to step on a stage like that knowing that her audience resents her being there simply because they know more about gaming than her. Nintendo needs Cammie because she brings a different face to put out there that non-gamers can relate to so I think we should give her time, she's already improved from when she started. And I think you could have found a nicer picture.

Secondly, I want to address the whole soccer mom thing. Why is it that I am constantly reading soccer mom thrown out there like it's supposed to be an insult? What about soccer dad's? Are they ok to play video games? It just seems child-like, this bitterness about mom's playing video games. Is it because no one wants to share their console with their mothers or is it because being a gamer suddenly isn't as cool if your mom is one too?

Never assume that anyone is typical. That mom sitting at the soccer field watching her son's practice might be catching up on The Hotspot podcast on her ipod or thinking about the level she's going to play when she finally gets the kids to bed for the night.

For all we know, one of those very same "soccer moms" that a lot of people like to criticize could be a better and more experienced gamer than any other us. Like she said, it's as if those who make use of the term in that matter think that they're better and/or more worthy of being a gamer, and that's not the case. I grew up taking some humble beating at the hands of people who are now mothers, and if they still had the interest in gaming, I'm sure they would be pretty darn good at it to this day.

Couldn't agree more with that. Even her announcement of Galaxy 2 seemed boring to her. It seems like she's trying to sell a product but she doesn't care or know anything about the product.
