I cant believe you people are still talking about soccer moms and stuff, I'll say it again, she does not work one day a year. She is not some poster child for soccer moms either, she is just doing one particular duty of her job, that believe it or not does not revolve around being on stage at E3. And she is not a terrible public speaker, she is actually quite a good one, which is probably one reason she has her job. She is simply not entertaining, but guess what, she's a suit and generally suit's, especially when on the clock are no fun. Its a rarity to find one that has a fun vibe about them, she is your typical corporate suit, she does her job well, but she has no style. And a word to the wise, the large bulk of people who make up the corporate side of the industry are not gamers. They are there because they have M.B.A's in Business not because they beat Mario World in 20 minutes. Sepewrathif Cammie does whatever she does offstage well than whatever but why do they have to let her speak? Can't they just let her play Wizard of Oz and stay behind the curtain? and zuma I have clicked your stupid sig like 50 times now. I fall for it every time
i'm the king of games, i've never lost to a mom or any female for that matter -_____-
shoryuken_
I'm not saying that I've taken the beatings recently, but I grew up with a couple of female cousins that were darn good gamers. While I might be leaps and bounds better than them now, I'm not about to stand here and say that I haven't taken my losses by females over the years. In fact, I see gaming as one of those things where it doesn't matter if you're male or female; your game will speak far more than your gender will. ;)

I think the last time I lost to a girl was my sister at brawl with severe handicaps. Like she had 3 more lives than me and I had to be like Bowser or someone terribad. If I was game and watch though, no chanceI'm not saying that I've taken the beatings recently, but I grew up with a couple of female cousins that were darn good gamers. like i said, im called the king of games for a reason ;)
im not saying you have to be male to be good at games, im just saying ive never lost to a girl before lol
I bet 99.5 percent of the population don't even know what the hell E3 is much less moms. She wasn't that bad this year. Besides, she's not meant to appeal to us, she's meant to appeal to moms.

I fall for it every timesnowman6251Because its part of her job, remember E3 isn't a public event, this isn;t TGS where your trying to wow the crowd. Recent years once they started doing things like airing it online and on TV, they have attempted to make it more entertaining, but first and foremost its about business. I'm sure when it comes to meetings with retailers and publishers, network execs etc.(basically other suits) she is there dong the talking. So she is there talking to them again, they aren't going to send up some developer with wild hair and shaggy clothes making wise cracks, while that may be amusing to watch, its not a good way to do business. E3 is about business, especially the conferences, we simply get to watch them, but they are not directly for us. Thats where many of you go wrong on here, you think because they let in camera's that E3 is a sitcom.
I'm not saying we should fire her, I'm saying we should let someone do the talking at major events. She has no personality, and never seems particularly interested in what she's talking about. Nintendo needs someone hip, cool, and fun to promote their games, not this lady. She's bringing them down.
yes i dont think cammie is the appropriate person to be taking charge of nintendos most public conference of the year
I've noticed a striking correlation between people who claim they've never been beaten by a female gamer and people who have never played against me. Hm.clicketyclick
no.
Cammie bugs me a bit but its not that big a deal considering I care more about the games then who is presenting them. And I couldn't help but laugh at that picture its great lol.

If you're good at games then you're no longer female. :x

you know this how?
she was clearly trying to instigate an argument/fight for no reason. anyways, we were all obviously joking about the female gamer thing before. i didnt think that needed to be spelled out for you.
i am eric813 and i approve this thread. but yeah seriously they should fire cammie, they gave her pretty much all of e3 when reggie should have been up there. did you see how much she sucked at new super mario bros wii she totaly bombed. we need gamers representing gamers not soccer moms who only played a couple of games in their life
we need gamers representing gamers not soccer moms who only played a couple of games in their lifeeric813She's the VP of Sales and Marketing. Additionally, I challenge anyone here to swear honestly that they have never ever accidentally been hit by a goomba while playing a Mario game.

I fail to make a relation between goombas, soccer moms, and Camie.
She's just so goofy! She reminds me of the character Stuart's mom on MAD TV. (Stuart is the toddler-man)

[QUOTE="nintendofreak_2"]How many moms watch E3 or would actually have any idea who this is? not many I'm willing to bet. Their kids and people like us are the ones watching E3 and we're the ones they should try and appeal to. The mainstream media is at E3 and reporting to the "casuals" out there. Nintendo needs someone like her, she isn't going anywhere that soon. She wasn't that bad this year. Besides, she's not meant to appeal to us, she's meant to appeal to moms.
snowman6251
Don't you think that is a horrible thing to say?PicesI really do hope the topic creator is just a kid, if it's someone who already had or has a job, it's even worse.
You can't blame all of Nintendo's problems on her, everyone contributes.
But I'm really annoyed by her... :(

Why would you do that!?!?! She gave you New Super Mario Bros. Wii  j/k
She's okay, she doesn't deserve to get fired though...
I personally don't think that firing Dunaway is the answer. I don't have a personal view to the everyday workings of the Nintendo corporation myself but chances are if Dunaway is really that bad at her job then a company like Nintendo will have her sacked and replaced in no time. I did however find her presentation of this years press conference at E3 very lackluster, Nintendo could have done with a better speaker to really animate things.
A Goomba yes, the very first goomba in the first level without even attempting a jump? No, well, maybe when I was 7 and never played the game. Look no one is saying she's not a good businesswoman, or a good employee whatever, just that she really is not a very good public speaker and lacks the stage presence to properly lead the E3 conference.SolemnJedi79
A goomba is a goomba is a goomba. Doesn't matter where you tripped on him. We've all stupidly run into one or another at some point, and we didn't have the excuse of being on stage and in the middle of a large press conference like she does.
And yes, many people are saying she's not good at her job. They think she should be fired... for running into a goomba. This apparently demonstrates that she's incompetent in many people's eyes here. But her job is not to jump over goombas and come in first place. It's sales and marketing. It seems many people have a very naïve view of how businesses work if they think that Sales and Marketing VPs need to demonstrate gamer cred to be good at their jobs.
@TC: I don't entirely agree. Like many others have said, she can keep her job, just get off the stage. The only people she could ever possibly appeal to DO NOT EVEN WATCH THE CONFERENCE. Just let Reggie and Iwata speak the whole time.Head_of_games
Because Iwata was so riveting at E3 this year, was he?
Cammie's sections were the better parts this year.

Yeah, Iwata was boring this year.
Cammy was fine this year. Last year she seemed kind of nervous, this year she was better.

Let's not be so negative. Thanks to the WiiHospital Pulse Sensor Plus he presented, next year, we can empirically prove that Cammie's speaking parts are better and that everyone falls asleep when Iwata takes the stage. :PI have no problems with Cammie. VP of Marketing at a major company like Nintendo? Shes already accomplished more than most people that creep around these forums ever will.
Can she be a bit boring while speaking? Yes....but who isn't. I watched all 5 press conferences this year and the only one that had any personality was the guy with the bug glasses showing of Natal. And all that guy did was come off as trying too hard to be cool for the kids. 8) Every other person that spoke, including Iwata and Reggie were boring. Heck, even a funny man like Joel McHale couldn't save the Ubisoft conference.:o
So give it a rest, guys. Cammie might not be the best gamer out there but she must be doing a good job with the whole marketing thing. Last I checked, Nintendo products still sell like hotcakes. ;)
I don't really have a big problem with her.. she just doesn't seem like the kind of person to be in PR/Marketing... she isn't charismatic, she isn't a particularly skilled speaker, and shes rather average. Nothing wrong, just seems like she would be better suited in an office behind the scenes, not the face of marketing...
She isn't "the face" of marketing. She makes executive decisions about how Nintendo products are to be marketed in North America, and whether she makes those decisions charismatically or with the dourest of faces makes no difference. And no, she is no mere PR rep - the bottom of the totem pole. She holds an executive position within the company. With the addition of that, everything that SiK99 said. ;)I don't really have a big problem with her.. she just doesn't seem like the kind of person to be in PR/Marketing... she isn't charismatic, she isn't a particularly skilled speaker, and shes rather average. I agree, she was a lot better this year. Her eyes were bulging last year and I just felt bad for her. This year she was more in control and that's where she did well. Last year I think she tried too hard to have fun while on stage that she scared many of us. Give her some time, she'll find her element at Nintendo eventually. She's only been there for a year. Who cares really, she makes more money than you complainers.
