Why is it that when you get a game like Soinc Unleashed for a home console, it always get bashed with a big flaw point out, but games like Sonic Rush and SR: Adventure, could almost in everyway, TOP the 3-D console games?

My awnser- there is less to work with on the DS, compared to console counterpart. Therefore, it is a waste of time to try to put so much into a video game, and at the same time get away with it on a handheld. Basically, handhelds have lower standards.

Second Awnser - Dimps. Nuff said.

sonic. hes a simple guy with simple pleasures, like goin really fast and lookin cool. just like handhelds thats why they go together so well! and there is nothing wrong with that, whereas consoles are big complicated things with guns, halos that destroy worlds and nuclear bombs therefore they need complicated, moody heroes to go with complicated moody consoles. so yea i sorta agree

From my point of sight, i believe this pretty much resumes what TC is saying. No, that was wrong. This actually shows TC point better than TC By the way, TC = topic creator. THe guy who created this topic, y`know.

I never played any game from sonic other than the genesis classics (sonic the hedhehog 1& 3 and knucles), after the classics, sonic went downhill. Now Now, after seeing some pictures of sonic rush, i never played it but my guess is that the game plays similarly to the original. Sonic is a fast and cool guy, what he need is speedy stages, not gimmicks or more characters that do little more than actually slow him down with pointless chatter. Well, thats my opinion, however i can be wrong, because i never played any of the newer sonic games.

Handhelds don't have lower standards. DS Lite actually has quite high standards because a lot of the games for it are just awesome, and Sonic Rush is one of the best. The console versions of Sonic as of late are just a mess.

So you're saying those "higher" standards on consoles push Sega to try and introduce stupid ass concepts like the Werehog? Well thats no excuse. Its their own fault for not coming up with anything good. If they just screwed all those high standards and just released Sonic Rush on home consoles, they'd be received basically just as well they were on the DS. Marginally lower by say .5 of a point at most. But you won't be seeing any whopping differences like 3.5 BAD and 8.2 GREAT

Side scrolling 2d sonic games= Good

3d Sonic games= Bad

Sega just hasnt been able to recreate the 2d success with a 3d game. The DS does not have lower standards

The reason Sonic excells in the side-scrolling genre is because the formula has worked from the first Sonic game and that carries over.

Sonic Team doesn't make the handheld series, either.

They are too busy being forced by Sega to pump out Sonic game after Sonic game.

Speaking of Sonic 2D, I wonder when Sonic Rush 3 is coming....

Because Sonic doesn't turn into a werehog, wear knight armour and grab a sword, or kiss human girls.

I think they work because the DS games are made like a real Sonic game. No emos, no monsters, no guys in eye liner. They work cause they are a real Sonic game, and the console ones throw in waaaaay too many gimicks.

As most people here have said already, Sonic works better in 2D. That and Sonic team are just incapable of making a decent 3D sonic game because they never learn from their mistakes and they always add pointless gimmicks with each new game. It's not that the DS has low standards. In my opinion it has a better library of games than any of the current gen consoles. It doesn't have as many major titles as the consoles, but it's consistently pumping out great games.

Sega just don't seem to understand that sonic and 2D go well together but sonic and 3D is bad with a few exceptions in that category.

Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers!

The console games are developed by Sonic Team.
The handheld games are developed by Dimps.

Sonic Team fails at making games now. Dimps does not.
