This is looking more like it! Control is done with Y stick, occasional 2D action, skills system is not so pretentious, and you're not actually being forced to play as the menagerie of idiots known as Sonic's friends.
The game looks great and it sounds like it will be an improvement over Secret Rings, which is still one of the best third party Wii games. This will be a day one purchase for sure.
Actually sounds....good. Really good. However, "slowing your descent by grinding into the wall with you swrod"? Reducing speed in a Sonic game? I'm skeptical.
And as for the gameplay, how can you complain about Sonic having a sword now when "most of the time you can slice through any who stand in your path without even slowing down"?
And the fact that playing as other charaters is optional? Looks like Sega have actually paid attention!
So they are coming out with this game and sonic unleashed? Or is this game the sonic unleashed that we were seeing early screens of a few weeks ago? Unleashed looked awesome, this one seems a bit out there.

I actually had doubts but this has alot of potential to be a very good game if SEGA make it so you only play as Sonic and they sort out the annoying camera problems.

They said that characters like Knuckles and Shadow will be playable, but they're strictly optional. You can complete the entire game with only Sonic if you so choose.

I'm really looking forward to this. Secret Rings had some problems (occasional control quirks, backing up was a bit of a hassle) but this really seems to be on the perfect path to fixing those problems. I'm glad they're keeping that same RPG sort of element they had in Secret Rings with special skills and such.
I'm also liking the idea of saving or smiting townsfolk. Online trading sounds good too.

I read the details and it sounds really good and the graphics don't look to bad either if the gameplay is good and the camera is not a problem like previous Sonic games then this could be a Sonic game to be proud of. I had serious doubts before but after reading this info I have a different opinion now.
lol, it looks like sonic unleashed (graphics wise), what I find funny is that everyone was bashing sonic unleashed for those scans that came out and how Sonic looked bland and had horrible shading... the sonic in this game looks pretty much the same.
Graphically impressive. But that doesn't make a game any good. Sadly Sonic Team repeatedly come up with new ways to reinvent sonic, and sadly they either believe they're making great games each time, or they've just completely incompetent. Either way, I don't see this game reversing the trend, but i'll hold judgement for now.
