The following is simply a real life story. No news. No political rants. No rumors. Nothing but my story about an experience I had with an EB Games employee.
So one day I step into the local EB Games store and ask the man behind the counter if I could buy a Wii-mote. He said; "I'm sorry, man, we're all out." Disappointed, I said "ok" and started to turn around until the same man said; "Dude, I was just joking! I have plenty in back, wait, I'll go get one." So he goes and gets a Wii-mote for me and I was about to pay. Before, however, I asked; "Would you happen to have any Wii's?" Naturally, he asked me why would I want to buy a Wii-mote if I didn't even have a Wii. I told him that my friend had a Wii and if I had my own Wii-mote, I could play with him. But anyways, the man said with a huge grin on his face; "Why, in fact, we do, I have, like, 10 in back." I asked if he was serious. He said; "Yes." My eyes shot open, it took a few seconds to comprehend those few key words. But reality snapped and I realized that I couldn't even afford one for the momment. I sworn in the store and told the man that I couldn't afford one. He said; "Oh well... maybe next time?". So I took my Wii-mote and left. About 5 minutes later, I decided to call my parents. I told them how they actually had a Wii in stock and that I really wanted to get one. They said; "Charge it on the debit card." Now, think for a momment. A Wii's in a stock. You have your parents money in your debit card. And you have the "Go" from the authorities (the parents...). I quickly went back to EB Games. "Oh, you again." the man said. "I'll take a Wii, please." I yelled. "Oh." "Oh?" "I'm sorry." "What?" "I was kidding." "What?" "I was really kidding. I really don't have any Wiis in stock." "This isn't another one of your stupid jokes, right?" "No, man, sorry." "Fine, bye then." I walked out the store calmly with a fake smile on my face, but inside I wanted to throw my Wii-mote at his face. So yeah, that's the story. I'm still kind of mad... after 2 days.
That's unfortunate to hear. There are a lot of people in this world that don't realize they are upsetting other people. Just chalk it up to human nature.
Usually I think these kinds of rants are dumb and unfounded, but I have to side with you on this one. I'd be pissed off too. The fact that he told you they had some, twice, and lied about it makes him worthy of a termination in my opinion. It's okay to be friendly with the customers and joke around, but there is such a thing as taking a joke too far.
Anyways, I went back today. The same guy was there. First thing I told him was; "Any good jokes today?" He apologized to me and said that he now has a reputation for pulling stupid jokes in the store. It's not really a bad reputation, more like a humiliating one. Anyways, during my time at the store, I was at the store, I saw Final Fantasy 7: Greatest Hits Edition, great condition, for only 10$. I bought it. :D Joy.
what a turd. EB is great, except for stupid employees and constant lack of wii hardware/ accessories. i couldn't find a wiimote at EB here in baton rouge (and i checked both, and the local gamestop, which are still the same), but wal-mart and target have the damn things practically coming out of their ears. stupid, stupid EB. I'll still buy my games there, because specialty game stores still have better selections, but for controllers and whatnot, i'll stick with wally world.
haha that was funny. But I feel you. I especially like how you wanted to throw a wii-mote to his face. That would be classic. "Suck my Wii-mote Ebgames monkeys!"
Amen to that. I think some of them just want to be as down to earth as possible and like kid with you if possible to make things more comfortable. I mean I'm not from America but I come there often and one time when I just went to an EBGames store at a small plaza and I asked this guy what he thought about a certain game and he talked to me like we were buds. The only problem with this is that in your situation the guy went too far to the point where it was just angering. It would've irritated me too. I'd hate to get in a situation like that.
i was in there once and a lady came in looking for lego star wars 2 for the gamecube. so the employees "looked" while I stared at a copy on the shelf. took it down and gave it to her. after they sold to her and she left they told me to get out.
That was pretty mean of him...after you said the first time that you dont have enough money and he said "maybe next time?" he should have said "doesnt matter i was joking anyway"
