If you have Wii Speak, then yes, you talk to anyone on there. If you wan't to buy a good online game for Wii though, I'd wait for the Conduit, which is going to be released sometime in June.

Wii Speak comes with Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Currently, the only game with voice chat is Animal Crossing.

Nintendo hasn't confirmed texting yet, but you can keep your fingers crossed.

Unfortunately online communication is very slim at the moment. But I would still recommend the Wii. Plus, The Conduit is going to use Wii Speak for online.

Before making a decision to buy a Wii, you should DEFINITELY go to the "Recommended Games" thread and see if you're really interested in those kind of games. I've heard countless stories about people who bought a Wii and ended up not liking the games. Wii doesn't have many fps's, but has a good range of puzzlers, platformers, and some adventure games.

If you're looking for good online communication in your games- you are not going to like the Wii right now- as online communication ranges from incredibly slim to completely non-existent right now.

This may start changing with Wii Speak though, as long as more games start supporting it. Other than Animal Crossing however- the only other game that I know of which will support Wii Speak is The Conduit.

My only advice: Do your research, first!

See what games and features you are interested in and compare it to the Wii's library and features. Thus, you know what you are getting yourself into.

voice chat is overrated. Most of the time, u get little kids just spamming crap. It works well in a game that you want to cordnate attacks/co-op games. but in a DM game, there really is no point. Aside from that, i would get a Wii. x360 has good games and everything, but the Wii has a better all around selection. you get good M-games, as well as games like SMG and Zelda. Not to mention cool motion controls. As long as you dont play games for graphics, the Wii is the way to go.
