HA! Anyone who agrees with this topic is Wrong. You people should make ammends with Suda for for not buying his wonderful game... Oh yea thats right you guys only buy games that you know will be ok, and say NO to new IP's. I guess you guys all disagree with Nintendo's "Graphics dont matter" all of a sudden when its conveniant for you? Just as i thought... All clones.draftrough
Yeah ummm....where to start
Ok, you know a graphical style doesn't mean the game has to have broken areas right?
If you've played No More Heroes you know there are problems, those aren't part of the art style. Suda was not looking for the art style called "bad collision"
It's easy to look at No More Heroes and laugh at the jaggy trees and grainy buildings. Or to run into someone with your motorcycle and see them still standing. It's not reality, it's an exaggerated fantasy.
But ask yourself this. If you were directing a game for the 360 and your boss told you to port it to the Wii, how well would YOU adapt? Would you be able to shrink your textures and bitmaps correctly? Remember that the original trailer was full HD, so at least the project had a substanscial base already built to showcase what was then a 360 game...
WAIT
Oh My Goodness...could it be? Could it be that all along, this game was nothing more than a PORT? That the combat system was stylized for the 360 and re-configured for Wii? If that were the case, could the last 2 years have been nothing but the calibration of Wii-mechanics so that Suda 51 would have an interesting game to sell? Could it be that...Grasshopper was under-manned and under-knowledgable in making bloom and shine like Retro and Mario Team? That all along, this game was
Second-rate?
And that for a second-rate game, it starts and ends by telling the user that it wants to be first-rate. So that by then end, when it realizes that it doesn't have to be a first rate game to have the player play all the way through, only then does it decide that maybe its good enough to have a sequel?
So stop poo pooing about lack of shine, they know. You know. We know. and I know. But that didn't stop me from playing it twice. It didn't stop the TC from buying it. And its not stopping people from garnering interest in a three month old game. Maybe you should apologize Jaysonguy, for only looking at the logic presented outside the game without using the knowledge you could get from within. I think a lot of people would like to hear it.
I finally got No More Heroes and it's nice to see that I was exactly right in what I said about the game (in my other thread "Should Suda Apologize To Wii Owners")
The game is good but it's only "good"
Suda berated the buying public because everyone passed over his game but he released a game with no polish
A lot of the game doesn't look that great. Not in the "I don't like the art direction" sort of way but in the....
"Hey does that look like a tree?"
"Kinda"
sort of way.
The game has frame rate issues, poor collision detection, and overall seems rushed.
Suda's got a good game on his hands but it's a shame he was unable to unearth it fully. Instead we get a sub par effort overall and instead of Suda apologizing for this effort he ripped everyone who didn't buy it. He decided to complain that his game is a wonderful game that everyone should own sight unseen. Of course when you see it many users go check the connections to their TV.
The thing is that when you release a game lacking this much polish people remember it and when they see No More Heroes 2 they're less likely to buy it.
So I guess if this does get a sequel we'll get to hear Suda complain again.
