Its an amazing game unless you have the N64 version already, in which case dont get it unless it's cheap.

I love all Mario games in general, but Mario 64 DS and its N64 version are my favorites. The game is fun but contols are tight. Other than that you should consider purchasing it.

why does everyone say 64 version is better? The DS one has better graphics, better control, portable, more characters, more replay value with each character. And yes i have played the 64 version many times it was good but the DS one is just better.

because the N64 version is better. the controls are better and the adventure is better. there are many parts in the DS that they screwed up just because they tried to avoid it being an exact port. the one for the N64 is harder (still not incredibly hard) and getting the stars is more fun. being able to choose different characters is sometimes cool but just helps the game be even easier, and its annoying to have to switch between characters to get through the level and get the star. i mean why make 4 characters that combine do what mario could do alone in the N64 version?

to the TC: overall the game is amazing, the N64 version was my favorite game of all time and i still play it from its release to the present day. i purchased the DS version as my first DS game and i still play this one too. its still very fun regardless of what i said above and its a very good buy. if youre looking for a good adventure with bunches of replayability, you can't go wrong with SM64 DS

Why would the DS have better grapics?

If you dont forget N64 had better fittering and the DS is all a back drop instead of a item

The DS has much better graphics than the N64, it's just at a much smaller resolution.

If you play Mario 64DS and compare with Mario 64, you'll know what I mean.
