Anyone who paid $250 for their 3DS has already paid the $80 to get these "free" games. The only difference is that the people who now buy a 3DS for $170 have a choice on which games they want and which games they don't want.

That is true, but I am glad to see Nintendo do something to compensate those of us who already purchased a 3DS. Also consider that some of the titles being released (specifically the GBA games) will never be released to the general public according to Nintendo. I also don't mind the free games because just by looking at the intial list they are quality games. They could have just decided to give us crappy games. However it looks like Ninty decided to actually make sure the games that they were offering were ones that just about everyone would be happy with.
Technically, nothing is free.
Despite being out around $30 (which will be made up for by the games) I'm not too upset just because this will help make the 3DS a success. Quite frankly, I'd rather be out of some money rather than have the 3DS fail and never get any games. Plus this is a risk that you should be willing to take as an early adopter.
No they are not, but considering early adapters get 20 free games, 10 of which will not be released to the general public for $80, well I think that is a pretty great deal. Hell just buying those 10 NES games on the Virtual Console will probably come close to the $80 in itself. If they charge $5 or $6 for NES games like they are with Excitebike, we are paying $4 per game, that is a pretty good deal to me.
You're actually getting over $80 worth of games, 10 NES and 10 GBA. $5 apiece on Wii VC for the NES games and lets say GBA is the equivalent of SNES which are $8 apiece. I spent $250 for the 3DS, $0.96 for OOT, and $25 for StreetFighter4 (Amazon credit from online surveys and promos) and I feel completely satisfied in my purchases. Now I get $130ish worth of games for free. They didnt have to give anybody anything. No problems from this guy, Thank you Nintendo.
