You can add your own instruments into the song, you can have different visual players, heck. You can even turn the song into 8-Bit. Right now I'm listening to Twilight Princess songs in 8-Bit and it sounds awesome. 8-Bit doesn't work well on regular songs though :O Still. I'm glad I figured out how to get music on here, because this is my new music device.

The low volume is a big drawback for me too. I wish that the volume were a lot louder. I actually have to go and edit the audio files to make the volume louder then place it on my SD card so that it is at a good volume.

As a practical music player it (and the 3DS) is pretty terrible, but I will agree that it's fun to muck around with. My daughter loves it.

It's a neat little function to tinker around with, but a solid music player it is not. The fidelity of the audio is just too low for my liking, but glad you're still enjoying it, TC!

It's fun, and can be convenient. But the low volume does hold it back from being awesome. Still good though and useful for my walks home from uni.

I don't get the low volume issue. Apparently, if anybody else can here even the slightest sound from your headphones, then the music you're listening to is loud enough to be doing long term damage to your ears. Personally I find the volume to be fine, though I do have it on full volume at all times. If that's not enough for people, then you might want to consider getting noise reducing headphones than can minimise surrounding noise. As for the player itself, i've not found a way to organise music by artist or album, which means I have to manually create such playlists, which is rather annoying.

As long as I have the volume on the stereo option, I found the volume to be loud enough. It's sound quality is decent, it works in sleep mode, you can create your own playlists, you have visual backgrounds, you can shuffle songs. It's convenient and it has plenty of features that a typical music player has. The only problem is that it's a bit too quiet, but as long as your actual .mp3 is good quality, and since I have great headphones, then I don't mind. In fact I'm starting to use it over my ipod touch, it's just far more convenient having to just stick my SD card to any computer dragging the song, then putting it back in the 3DS, no syncing and I can do it on any computer. Also the sound options like drums and stuff are fun to play around with. I would consider it a legitimate replacement as a music player, it's just a bit quieter, but I think Nintendo could always update it if they wanted to and it has all the features of other mp3 players.

It isn't the best, but it's good. Plus, you get that football-bouncing game to entertain yourself while listening.

The volume is issue is weird, esp. since the 3DS is quite loud on it's built in speakers. As far as the music software, it's OK aside from that. Deosn't play all the formats I want, notably FLAC, I don't think.
