I hated the fact that Sonic had the least inspired introduction in the game... I was like, "Wait... wth... so Sonic just chills in Subspace?" then I cam across this interpretation on the Brawl Boards... it's kind of interesting :P Master Hand represents the spirit of creativity necessary to craft beautiful and fun games. He's the visionary, the artist. Without him, all you have is the same tired crap over and over again. Crazy Hand represents the spirit of destruction and conflict necessary to enjoy games. He's the one who makes the driving reasons to PLAY the game. Without him, all you have is pretentious artsy fartsy bull. Lots of fluff, no substance. In this case, what does Tabuu represent? Tabuu represents series decay. Subspace represents terrible games. The dragging of things into Subspace through the bombs is the fall of what was once great. No single character could fight such a terrible force, thus, everyone who stood against Tabuu was defeated with ease. Even Master Hand, the spirit of creativity, couldn't hope to even begin to hope to lay a scratch on it alone. Maybe if his other half had been there. This also, by the way, explains why Sonic didn't show up until he did. He had already been a prisoner of Tabuu's for a solid four-five years now. This also explains why Tabuu effortlessly destroys everybody else but Sonic blindsides him. Why would you expect somebody you've beaten consistently for four years to suddenly pose a threat to you? lol :lol:ZumaJones07

This is the most epic Smash Bros post that I've ever read.

I thought it was kind of random that he would appear just as your about to fight the last boss. Seemed to me that during the production of the story mode, the programers forgot about sonic and said:

Programer 1 "Umm we forgot about sonic."

Programer 2 "Do you want to go back and change some things and add him?"

Programer 1 "Lets just add him in the end to remind players that his in the game"

Programer 2 "Good thinkin'"

That's what I think happened.

Very interesting theory. I never thought that way about Sonic appearance in the Subspace Emissary. But it makes sense. And Nintendo really gave a tribute to Sonic, by putting him in that role of the story.

Well...

Sonic only damaged one of his wings...

He helped... but I dont think that qualifies as 'saving everyone' IMO.

But I think the true biggest surprise was Kind Dedede saving everyone. Who the heck knew that those badges were timed to resurrect people? I surely didn't.

Jakendo

yeah I loved that scene, I planned this form the start, even when he hit luigi. I lovew king dedede as a character

I was surprised, in a good way. I like Sonic. He's a good character. (Canonically, that is. He kinda sucks in Smash).

Sonic was a late edition to the game. It was easier and cheaper to introduce him at the end of the adventure mode.

I'm one of the rare few who could've done without Sonic in Brawl, honestly. I don't mind him at all, but I wasn't thrilled, either--more like impassive.

To add to that, I also didn't like that he defeated Tabuu while everyone else (as we saw) worked their way to him; but like most have said (and know), he was added in late, so I guess they had to squeeze him in SOMEHOW.
