I think they could make awesome ground-missions in Star Fox, possibly ones that can seamlessly switch to ship and vehicle piloting on the fly. Like I see each of Team Star Fox's members being good at different things, like Slippy being the fastest swimmer on levels with water, and having the most powerful bazookas and stuff at the cost of having low ammunition stock, and Falco being the fastest runner and best at sniping on enemies. And you could just walk upto a vacant tank or starship and press a button to jump into it, then go around bombing the battleships and shooting at the other flying machines as if you had been in the fighter for the entire level.

There would be different missions...some would be seek and destroy/protect a particular target within/for a time limit, some would be infiltrating a battleship's cockpit and taking over it, others would be rescue missions and intelligence...and then there would be straight arwing, ship and landmaster battling, etc etc. I'm sure the team behind the games could think up quite a few good units for the game, and they usually do very well with the stories for these games. I imagine most of the enemy grunts being pigs, monkeys and lizards, kind of like the main enemies in the series.

Star Fox Command (for DS) was pretty good, and it got a 9.0 from some publications. The strategy aspect of the game, love it or hate it, worked pretty smoothly with the stylus and made players think before just jumping into things. So while the GCN Star Fox games may not have done well, Command is living proof that the series is alive and well, at least I think so.

I would like to see an improved online battle system, if a Wii SF would have that.

"The next Star Fox would be a 10 if......" it wasn't a Star Fox game. A Star Fox game will never get a 10 from GS.

GSpot might give it a 10 if Nintendo turned it into an on ground fps.
