umm they used proper english
hah jk if english isnt your first language or anything i didnt mean it as an insult just playing around but if english is your frist language then make sure you double check before you post
and to answer you question nintendo has done something different and that is what they have always done its been successful in some cases but not so much in others
It depends on how you look at it.
From the "hardcore" view, they've done alright, but could do better.
From a business perspective, they've done wonderfully, putting out games that the larger part of the gaming audience will purchase.
In my eyes, they're doing fine. Last year had a bit of a drought, but it looks like they are taking steps in the right direction.

I think the biggest thing Nintendo has done right is the less powerful hardware. I know that sounds backwards, and I'm not just saying that for shock value. The cost to develop a Wii game is significantly lower than the other consoles. This allows developers to take more risks and get a decent return on their investment even with relatively low sales. This allows for more shovelware, granted, but it's easy to ignore that stuff. We're seeing this year especially that developers are willing to take advantage of the Wii's situation. It isn't too surprising, considering the DS went through the same general process.
And the weaker hardware has also led to some pretty outside-the-box games, like Zack and Wiki and Madworld, that would never have existed if the Wii had been more powerful.
* Price
* Wiis don't brake down often (as someone stated earlier)
* Packing WiiSports with Wii
* WiiPlay + remote package
* No complex console packages
* WiiFit
* Low price, easy to use, good design and colour scheme(Wii doesn't look like a fat black box)
* Wiimote is simple and the similarity with a normal remote gives people familiarity
* WiFi built in with the Wii
* Games; SMG, Metroid Primetrilogy for one price, etc
* Smart advertising
* Trying new stuff when others wouldn't
* Miis
* NO ACHIEVEMENTS!!1
Things they have done wrong (IMO);
* Basic browser, etc should be included with the Wii (and it was, it was stupid to make people start paying for stuff they already get for free on a PC)
* Should have let some early Nintendo games (e.g. Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong) be free to encourge others onto Wii Shop and because these games have been given out for free in many places.
* Wii core system is weak, other consoles are more well designed, Wii is easily hackable.
* Still too many cords, Numchuk and the Vanilla Controller should be wireless.
* Of course tiny storage space, running from SD card still requires the game to be put onto the Wii before being able to run.
* Total lack of good games in 2008
* Wii Music!! Shigeru, you BETTER make up for it at e3!!!!!!
* Weak online, friend codes FTL
* Encourge more third parties, even though they are coming out now
* Need more control of bad games.
Overall many of the problems were because Nintendo had a limited bidget at the start of this gen, hopefully they can fix this if they redesign the Wii.
Things Nintendo did right this gen? This is... uhm...easy! Uhm... uhh... Backwards compatibility is good...Black_Knight_00
The cold hard truth.
Apart from that they have made a lot of money from kids and families.
Even VC you can download a bunch of those games completely free off the internet, I have.
Virtual Console
An awesome controller
Perfect BC and Gamecube controller and memory card ports
Great games
Super Mario Galaxy
it doesn't break.
chargingcable
Every single console I've bought after N64 has had one problem or another.
PS1...stopped reading games
PS2...stopped reading DVD's
XBOX 360...red rings of death AND E-74 error
Wii...produced a horrid grinding noise like an ice blender

Oh god, not moral relativism...
There's a quick and dirty way to disprove moral relativism. Here we go...
I say: There is such a thing as absolute truth about morality.
You disagree: There is NO such thing as absolute truth about morality.
I say: Is that certain?
You say: Absolutely.
I say: So it's an absolute truth that there is no such thing as absolute truth about morality?
You say: Oh crap, I contradicted myself, didn't I? I see that there is no way to hold a Relativist view without contradiction, and therefore, I will abandon this view because it is hypocritical and wrong. Now I understand why university philosophy professors don't take this viewpoint seriously, because it's merely pseudo-philosophy; it is a view that can't be sustained. It's like saying "A & not A".
I say: Wow, cool, you're very smart and rational! I wish I had said all that first.
They have done a lot right with Wii.
-All of their fantastic franchises are getting their next installments on the system and brought back two old series: Punch-Out!! and Sin & Punishment.
-They are getting much stronger 3rd party support than their last two consoles (just look at 2009/10's lineup).
-They have perfectly functioning backwards compatability with Gamecube
-The Virtual Console allows us to play almost all of the greatest games of all time from the past!

Wow, if that isn't the very deffinition of setting up a straw man argument...
Anyway, Nintendo hasn't done too much wrong really. I would like to see more of their other games (Starfox, Kirby, etc) make a comeback on the Wii in the near future.
Good first party games from Mario,Samus and Link
The Virtual Console
Mario Kart Wii online it is amazing
Backwards compatabilty
What Nintendo has done right this generation.
Cheap entry price for the system, too bad you have to buy other accessories later on though
Small console,
It comes with a "game" even though that game is nothing but a tech demo
Have quite a lot of games to choose from
What Nintendo has done wrong
There is more "casual" games out on the market than those for veteran Nintendo players
A lot of games use the wiimote poorly
quite a bit of it's core games are nothing but games from last generation, Okami, Bully, and Brother in Arms might be great games but you can already get those on PS2
There are very few games that use the Wiimote exceptionally well
Nintendo didn't really add anything new this gen. All they did is a make TV remote mouse controller and everyone went wild.
Nintendo has too many remakes on the shelf playing off the fact that a lot of their fanbase has never seen these games before. It makes them look lazy and don't care what kind of games they put out because they know some idiot will buy it.
Nintendo still has yet to release quite a few franchises on Wii such as F-zero, Pilotwings, Starfox, and Wave Race.

lawl bravoWow, if that isn't the very deffinition of setting up a straw man argument...Arc2012It actually isn't. It's an actual philosophical disproof of a theory, but I don't have time for the socratic back-and-forth, so I put some words in his mouth. [QUOTE="funsohng"] lawl bravo Thanks :P So you totally have to answer the question now! :D
c'mon man...SMG might be the best nintendo game this gen..but you can't forget all the other gems they've released on both the ds and wii.They released Super Mario Galaxy.
VGobbsesser
how is the price a good thing? where i live its 280 and the xbox360 is 300. i swear the wii was cheaper than that
I don't know if they done right anything to be honest. I haven't really cared for one piece of their software besides Punch-Out!! and Mario Kart Wii
All of their first party titles have been superb, they've pushed the system to its limits technologically, and they've introduced motion controls into the gaming industry. There's the VC, WiiWare, and soon to be the WiiMotionPlus.

But its a disproof of your own theory of what relativism is and what it means. Not only that but you used the word "truth" in two different ways so that it made it seem like the other person was saying A =/= A when really was more like A1 =/= A2.
And I'm not even really sure why I care! This has nothing to do with Nintendo.
ok first off , i m going to sat this they done it all right ,,
better then their gcand equal to their n64 showing -to bad no one paid much attention
not only did they get good games out the door fast , they also came with new games /ips and ways to play soon , , enough
yes 08 was not that great if you expect zelda or mario ,
but there was games like deblob
cod5
quantum of solace wwe 09
animal corssing , mariokartt and ssb
many more , , , dr mario online
the jumpstart to wifi connection was 08s focus , ,
and early 09 was great or awsome any way you put it , for nintendo -excite bots pikmin and mario tennis remakes
so wat if 2 of these are rtemakes,
and they have awsome 3rd party support from square sega ubisoft ea ,rockstar capcom etc , ,, , ,
it is appearant wii id good for any one whom is looking for a change , ,
