The Wii actually is more than two times more powerful then the first xbox but it doesn't have a pixel shader inside of it and most third party developers are to lazy to make one them selves (which isn't surprising) to actually optimize the appearance of most games. Conduit is an example that made a specific engine for the wii and it looks great. As the Wii is the most sold console by far i don't see why Third party companies aren't diving at the wii.

Nintendo is wired in how they make their consoles the are extremely efficient in their hardware. They don't need as much with good techniques they can easily make good visuals with a fraction of the power (takes more work but third party devs aren't seeing the opportunity). Ps3 and 360 bigger the better and that caused overheating problems with the 360 and high failure rate. PS3 isn't as bad due to it has more power than the xbox.

Blame goes purely to third party developers for the perception the Wii is so underpowered. What are they working on Wii games with anyway? Dreamcast development kits?

Okay we wont get fancy HD visuals but we still deserve better efforts then the likes of Dead Space Extraction and Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, both are being cobbled on the cheap with alot of assets from other games. I applaud HVS for The Grinder which is bringing the core gameplay of Left 4 Dead to the Wii.

I would have to disagree when people say that 3rd parties are just too lazy. I would guess that's part of the problem, but I'm sure there are more factors in there as well.

If you're used to programming one way, and you have to basically create your own tools, that's fine.... but that also takes time away from something else. You almost have to have 2 teams working on Wii games. One for creating tools, coding.... and the other normal team (artists, modelers, etc.).

I would also guess that some people are just not familiar with doing so. Maybe Nintendo should help guide people.

4 games:

SSBB

Mario Galaxy

Metroid Prime 3

Conduit

this shows you how much is capable the wii, and im pretty sure it does have more power... the problem with the wii, is that developers need to create a graphics engine for the wii, and 360/ps3 alredy have it done.. so thats why is harder for the wii to get good graphics...

technically speaking, if the wii is greater than the last gen xbox, than the wii should be capable of doing something to the extent of halo 2 (I'm just using that game to represent the best use of the xbox hardware to my knowledge. I am by no means a fanboy). We still yet to have to see a game of that caliber.
