I only use Gamespot for the forums, and go to IGN for any gaming news/reviews etc. Gamespot's not very good with reviews, so why complain, it's never going to change. Just go somewhere else for that stuff. Simple. :|XDXDXDXDXDXDXDI agree. Although, it would be nice to have a site with healthy forums and a positive gaming attitude towards all systems.
They didn't even review Rock Band 2 yet for the Wii, and its been about 6 months since that came out. :s
Game Spot is very biased. It is terrible. I try to not care about the poor scores too much, but I just feel like the Wii needs an AAA game ya know.. Just for an example, look at the Grand Slam Tennis review. How many times have you read in a review's "The Bad" box where it says, "waggle feels tacked on?" I know I have seen it quite a bit. Now that the WiiMotion+ has come out, they are saying that it is way too difficult, and giva a great game a 6, come on. It is just a load of**** in my opinion. I can just see when a game like Red Steel 2 comes out that they will be saying that it's too accurate and give it a 7, when accuracy is what they've wanted all along.
i am shocked they haven't changed the sites name to 360/pc fansite elbert_b_23
Wouldn't M$GS be more catchy?
Let's see. In 2009, we have had:
A scores:
Let's Tap
Help Wanted: 50 Wacky Jobs
Klonoa
Marble Saga: Kororinpa
MadWorld
We Ski & Snowboard
Deadly Creatures
Madagascar 2 Africa
Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars
AA scores:
Little King's Story
EA Sports Active
Punch-Out!!
Boom Blox Bash Party
Excitebots: Trick Racing
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (Director's Cut)
The House of the Dead: Overkill
Yeah! That's clearly Wii hate, right?
Hell, I'm surprised that some of those got so high. EA Sports Active? We Ski & Snowboard? Madagascar 2 Africa?! Help Wanted: 50 Wacky Jobs?!!!
Slow reviews? Yes. There are games that I wish were reviewed but weren't. But seriously, this is just silly...
GameSpot can never touch IGN. IGN is THE website for gaming. I hate the mods here to. Nuff said.

I feel the complete opposite (well, except for the mods, don't know how they are at IGN).
Anyway, to answer moreto the point the thread question, Gamespot unfortunately have to review games after popularity. We all know that Wii games aren't as popular as the games on 360 and PS3. It also has much to do with the enthusiasm of a reviewer. A reviewer will most likely play a game that looks more interesting to him. It's a deplorable situation, but it's something that, for now, we can't do anything to change.

Games like Cod WaW, Rock Band 2, and PES 09 for the Wii are all immensely popular games, and the review for the first game I mentioned came signifcantly later than the other consoles, and the second two were not even reviewed at all.I'm scratching my head here.
Thats not the reason they gave it a 6. Not that I think this game deserved such a low score, but I don't understand why people hate that they wanted Mii support. GS did underscore this game, but a lot of the criticisms were meaningiful. Mii support was just one of very many examples on how they could have made it more Wii centric.Remember when they gave Fire Emblem a 6.0 and slammed it for not having "Mii support'?

I never like arguments that involve pulling up a select choice of games in an attempt to prove a point wrong. The games you listed are quality titles and just because EA Sports Active is casual, it's highly critically acclaimed because it's a quality piece of software. I can easily pull up 20x more games that were scored lower on this site than they did on the average. The point being to look at the overall picture.Yeah! That's clearly Wii hate, right?

The main crux of my argument however, is not the review scoring, but the amount of quality titles Gamespot has failed to review for the Wii in general. There is absolutely no excuse for this, nor is there an excsue for Wii versions of a game review being reviewed significantly later than on the other consoles.
Gamespot has made it clear that the Wii is not the same level of priority to them as the other consoles, and that indicates bias on some level.
I don't know where people get the idea that IGN is any better. They've been busted numerous times reviewing games they didn't complete (they didn't beat Sonic and the Black Knight, then complained about its length and replay value), and they're funded by ad revenue just like Gamespot it. The best thing to do would be to STOP TRUSTING MAINSTREAM SOURCES. Form your own opinions based on demos, videos, hands-on impressions, and the opinions of people you trust.GameSpot can never touch IGN. IGN is THE website for gaming. I hate the mods here to. Besides that replay value was not the main gripe. It was the sword mechanic which completely slowed down the game.GameSpot can never touch IGN. IGN is THE website for gaming. I hate the mods here to. When it comes to reviews, IGN generally is the one to be trusted. GameSpot editors try to look as critical as possible. I told one of the editors Mad World deserved a higher score and he said he gave it a 7.5 because he'd already given a few 8's and a 9 that year. That's not professional, that's ridiculous.

I totally agree with TC. This is just absolute nonsense. So many good games dont get looked at but dont worry Gamespot supplies us with reviews for Night at the Museum or Up. Honestly like everyone else, if it werent for the forums..

No. Sorry but pointer controls of the interface esp. in game would have been so much faster, regardless of whether the old way works. You can keep tryin to discreditthe content of this reviewbut it just does not work that way when they are mostly right. What was said in the review should be listened to because it has some good advice. Use Wii functions that improve the experience. They do not have to cram anything.[QUOTE="kardine"][QUOTE="redfordo"]If you re-read my post I never said that. They did however give it a 6, and they did slam if for not having Mii support. As for PS3 games, I never said GS was consistant or fair in comparison to cross consoles.
I could be wrong, but one of the reasons why gamespot may not review wii games and put them as priority, is that no one appreciates it, if they give a game a low score people complain, I remember how many complaints there were for mad world (7.5 I believe) well if no one is going to appreciate it or if everyone is going to ign anyway, why should they review wii games, to them it'll be a waste of time so they get to them eventually or if it's a really big title gamespot will review it usually pretty quickly, I think the big problem is gamespot users complaining, the moment they review something everyone is complaining that gamespot is too hard, if no one likes their reviews, then gamespot will review things where the 360, PS3, and PC users will appreciate it.

I have not kept tabs on the sales of the other two, but I know for a fact that Cod WaW, which was reviewed months late by GS scored has sold over a million copies..... over a million copies. That is huge game by any measure of the tape.
[QUOTE="redfordo"]Not to mention that Wii reviews on Gamespot are significantly lower than the collective aveage on Gamerankings or Metacritic.clicketyclickActually, this is the reason why I read GS reviews. They're more critical than other sites, so you usually get a better picture of the game's flaws. The mere fact that their reviews are lower than the average doesn't demonstrate that anything is wrong. It's kind of odd to bring this up. Also, I really don't see how their reviews have been lacking in quality. If you're going to make allegations, you need to provide examples or else your feedback will be overlooked. Personally I don't care about reviews, I know what I like and I am not dependent on someone else to tell me what I like. I only look to reviews to see if games have technical flaws, like bugs and glitches that are game breaking. So what GS does and doesn't do really is of little concern to me. However I can understannd what people are saying as GS's Wii coverage is really half assed, they'll talk about Madden 50 all day but the only Nintendo games worthy of substantial coverage is big titles like Mario and Zelda. And when it comes to reviews they seem to make games out to have more problems than they really do and for those who purchase games based on reviews it poses an issue. Take the review of GST where they are basically talking like the controls are broken, or the game has an impossible learning curve. They are basically making moutains out of mole hills, they aren't necessarily more critical of games they are basically taking small issues and making them into gamebreaking issues. I have noticed in a number of thier reviews they cry wolf. But hey, them the breaks kids if you don't like it, all you can really do is not support the site.

As I also pointed out, the reviewers pick their games. They were most likely not very interested in the Wii version, which is simple disrespect to the Wii, but I commented on that earlier.
It's difficult to organize something like that and have people who are willing to go along with it. I think the best thing to do is be heard and complain in the link I have in the OP. Gamespot cannot continue to ignore a thread where their readership continues toshow they are unhappy.it'd be nice if we could somehow boycott gamespot or something so they'd stop treating it so badly...

IGN does better reviews. Not only that, but they are always on time, and they always review the games we care about. They are also honest, and don't show any form of bias--most of the time. I still haven't forgiven them for their Wii Music review though. And really, can we fault them for not finishing Sonic and the Black Knight?
But this site has some of the best forums on the web, which is why I stick around.

The only Wii review on here I have any gripes with is MadWorld, but I totally understand where the reviewer is coming from, I just don't share his opinion. And regardless of if people feel their reviews are biased, GameSpot has the best gaming forum online, and the Wii component of that forum is no exception. Yes, some reviews are late, and that could (should) be better, but it's a small complaint. What reviews in particular are people so pissed about?holdfasthopeYou forgot to mention that alot of reviews are missing altogether, and for me personally, there's many gamespot reviews I take issue with. Usually due to them being poorly written and chalked full of incosistencies. Take a look a few posts for an example.
