Turning the wifi switch off in sleep mode

Would the battery last MUCH longer if I turned the wifi off when the DS was in sleep mode? I'm assuming that it scans the area every once in a while for other 3DS users (Street Pass), which I'd imagine would task the battery after a while. Or is this not how street pass works? Thanks in advance.

If you turn of the wifi then streetpass or spotpass won't work and streetpass works if your 3DS passes by another 3DS and they're both in sleep mode with wifi on.

Ok for whoever said the 3ds has crappy battery life needs to get slapped. They must not have a job, go to school or have a life outside of their house. My 3ds died on me once (that was launch day) and I have my 3ds on with wi-fi 24/7. I play it everyday before I go to work, during work and after work. I even play Street Fighter on the crapper at work online. Yes there is nothing better than winning a match online on the crapper and going back to work. Just keep it on all day it uses very little battery life. 3D is what kills the battery life. I hope everyone realizes this so maybe we can have more streetpass interactions especially in smaller cities.
