A storage solution immediently.

Players choice would be great, though I don't see it happening just yet.

I like achievements, to me it adds something extra to the game and I will go out of my way to accumilate more points, I think the achievements in WoW are great, some of them are thought up really well, like falling a certain distance and surviving. I also liked how Mp3 had rewards, to me it feels like I've accomplished something and am getting rewarded for my hard work.

The Wii needs better graphics, a dvd player, better online gaming, better games for hardcore players.

all the wii needs is to get rid of their online system and re-try. something like gamertags would work perfectly.

I have a Wii and I love it. I spend more time playing the Nintendo than my XBOX 360 and my PS3. However, what I feel that hinders Nintendo is the online system. The only way that you can get someone in your buddy list is by trading Wii number. I think that they should better in that area.

Yes. I remember on Nintendo Power had this super nice last page that gave clues that people guessed was Kingdom Hearts, but it was just Sonic Black Knight.

I have the issue. Man that went from "Holy...!!" to "Oh great anothere Sonic game"

Responsible parents, I guess?

lol you're so silly... what parent in their right mind would deny their children hours more of gameplay, all because its some sort of marketing conspiracy? ill let you in on something: video games are a marketing conspiracy, using your previous statement. why give people any gameplay? as long as it sells?

[QUOTE="Skie7"]1. We'll probably see Player's Choice eventually. If it's on the same timeline as GameCube then the first Player's Choice games will be released in September of this year.bestibomber
I don't really think they will do players choice things because look at how their games are selling at full price. For nintendo its a good thing for them, but not for us.

IDK, they could put Excite Truck out as a Player's Choice. And, Super Paper Mario is probably due for a price drop.

Achievements are not part of the game; they're added later to encourage kids to play more. You can actually draw exact comparisons from achievements to gambling, and Microsoft knew this when they created the system.

When it comes to achievements, it's no longer about playing the game for what it is, and enjoying the experience that the developers set out to create. It's about logging ridiculous hours into a game in order to gain these achievements, and to brag to your friends that you're on the top of the leaderboards (something that takes hours upon hours a day to achieve).

"Oh, what's that? I've gotten all the possible achievements I can get in the games that I own, yet I'm still not in the top 10,000? Well then, I'm just going to have to buy another game.". Rinse, and repeat.

That was Microsoft's plan all along, and if you don't see the connection between achievements and gambling after this, then I'm not even going to bother trying to convince you.

once again. VIDEO GAMES is about getting people to BUY VIDEO GAMES. ANY video game could get a kid into gambling, any game that requires the process of elimination EVER could sway a child to gamble. its taking a chance. if you win, thats great, if you dont, too bad. chances are, that you'll try again. thats just how the world works. Achievments adds gameplay to games. I, personally, play through achievments like this: you play through the game, any achievments you get on the way to beating the game is just great, kinda like a " oh look what ive got just by doing what im supposed to be doing! i wanna do it some more!" then, once you beat the game, you continue playing, trying to unlock whatever you can. you start to play the game less and less, maybe not unlocking everything, but switching back and forth between games to try and finish the new game, and trying to 100% the previous one eventually you just stop, whether it be through completing everything, or just boredom of it. Achievments are nothing but an extension of a game.

I know that achivements or trophies might not be such a good idea, but it would be cool if nintendo gave you some nintendo club points to buy some things from there.

But you're forgetting that you don't have an impressionable personality, and you don't understand how it is to be addicted to something.

So achievements are just an added bonus to you. Fine, that's great for you. But Microsoft is telling these kids, who are going through an impressionable time in their lives (puberty), that it's ok to get addicted to something, to forget about what's important in life. In fact, they encourage it. The way they've set up this system fully encourages kids to get addicted to their games, to buy more and more, and to spend ridiculous hours trying to make it to the top of the leaderboards.

You don't see it? I don't expect you to...

I see through it though.

... but thats business. these kids arent going to have their parents buying them crap all the time, eventually they will have to get jobs to pay for their habit, and they'll get a job, then they get paid, and buy games. then they have to move out, and they have to get a better job so they can afford to, oh, i dont know, LIVE lol, and they can either way, they are going to have to give up their habit somewhat/fully, to either go to college or pay for life. if they choose to not pay for life, they get no house, no place to play games with achievments. i DO see what you are saying, but thats how the entire world works. you tell me a product and i could say the same thing about it.

Ok, so we're on the same page. Good.

Now, here's why Nintendo shouldn't have achievements: Because of all of this ^^^

People constantly come onto the boards complaining about how Nintendo isn't releasing enough "core" games.

GOOD. I'm glad they're not.

If they did, these Nintendo fans would have the same addictive habits as the 360 kids.

1.) More devs that actually take the Wii seriously
2.) A good balance of easy and hard games (Didn't want to say Casual and Hardcore or else I might get flamed lol)

lol they already HAVE the habits, though. Thats why there is such a demand for these "core" games. i myself am content with the library of games, despite the fact that none really catch my eye at the moment, but i have confidence in the system. from a business standpoint, i cant really say that what nintendo is doing is poorly, because, well look at them, the wii and DS have been nothing but money making dynamos! but i CAN say that i think that they could be making more by listening to those "core" gamers and adding some form of achievments.

i can agree now, though, thanks to you, that i can see how achievments COULD hurt the nintendo fanbase, mostly due to as of right now, their main focus is the stereotypically highly impressionable, highly uneducated "casual" gamer. I dont think that achievments are for those who are fresh into gaming, as it could add just another point of frustration/addiction, as you said. I personally, however, just like that tiny feeling of accomplishment of really getting all the little things.

What i really think should happen, though, is that the achievments should be inside the game. give them a point, like in CoD: WaW online. Let achievments give back for the time we give them, as opposed to walking out of this with nothing but a sense of accomplishment ( much like alot of bad gamblers lol )

He was implying you get an xbox-360, not original xbox. Also, I would love to own a PC that could out-stripe my 360's graphics on ANY game. Also also (lol) there are several 360 exclusive titles that are better than Metroid and have no intention of going to PC any time within the next 3 years.

The Wii is fine. Doesn't need anything (Y)
