My brother is convinced that you should always have the Wii on standby mode, and not OFF. He left it on standby mode for about 8 hours. Is that going to mess it up? I tried playing a game, and I got my first freeze.

It seems like every time I get a new system, my brother messes it up and I have to return it, soon after he breaks that one, and then I give up, trade in, buy a new one, he messes that one up. I've wasted a year and a half of all of my money and all of my time on these things and my brother just screws it all up. I'm left with nothing.

My brother says that I should always have it on standby mode because wii is updating itself 24/7. I doubt this is true. I could be wrong, but still.

So is my Wii going to work just fine, any suggestions, true or false on the updating statement?

Slap your brother in the teeth, and tell him it doesn't update 24/7. and that hes not very smart, and that the wii needs time to cool down before HE KILLS IT. Oh. and hit him as hard as you can. for every system hes wrecked.

If your talking about when its on the red light then I think its fine. Personally I like turning my system completely off, by taking the power cable out.

If your room gets very warm sometimes, or if the Wii is standing in a pretty cramped place, I would recommend holding down the power button on the console a few seconds to make the WiiConnect24 go off, when you're done playing. You do get updates and stuff when you have it on, but you don't get updates all the time, and the updates can be downloaded when you turn the console on again, if you don't have WiiConnect24 on.

I think my Wii overheated because of WiiConnect24. My room gets pretty hot sometimes, so I'm now more careful and always hold down the power button when I'm done playing.

Yeah, that would be 100% pointless. The red light means that the system is completely off. The only thing that is on is the little red light.
