"We want to make something that will be wanted even by the more hardcore game players, and something that offers new ideas."
I'm liking this, happy to see him finally return, and also we will finally be getting a new IP.
Hmmm. I don't really know how to take this. Nintendo considered Animal Crossing a "hardcore" game and when expecting a "big finale" at E3 we got Wii Music. Sakurai about eight years ago made Melee and then severely nerfed the game by making Brawl. And does anyone else notice how badly Sakurai wants people to know he is a freelance designer? I'm not getting my hopes until we get more news.ZumaJones07thats more or less my thinking. nintendo likes to think if they call a game hardcore, it suddenly comes true no matter the product. im skeptic as usual, but hoping for the best.
Sounds like a brand new "core" Nintendo franchise, something Sakurai himself lamented the lack of during the development of Brawl.
Can't wait to see what comes of this.
i was hoping it be Smash bros DS, but a new IP for Wii sounds good toodarth-pyschosisthat would be so cool, but IP is good too
[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]They just need to resuurect some dead Ip's such as F-Zero or Kirby before they make new ones.Foxi911....Thats what im saying lol Neither of those are dead. Kirby Superstar Ultra was released about 5 months ago and F-Zero has a last gen appearance. Nintendo hasn't made a new masterpiece-worthy IP since the N64 era (Pikmin is arguable).

goods news I guess? They must have a good idea with what their going to create here already, or why else would they already start posting positions?
They can act like they are just starting, but I bet this "new unique" idea has been in someone's mind for quite some time to say the least. (most likely Myamoto's). Remember, they approached Sakurai
Very interesting. Some crazy quotes like "We're not sure how it will sell or if it will be accepted." and , "It's something that can be made because Nintendo is backing you up, but is also something that Nintendo could not make." Something that Nintendo can't make, not sure if it will be accepted? Now I really want to know that they are talking about. TheColbert
This is the part that makes my cry foul. It doesn't matter to NOA what Iwata and Sora do. If the product doesn't sell, America will NEVER get it.
If Nintedo didn't care about sales or the coughcoughcough "image" of Nintendo, Atlus wouldn't have needed to publish Cubivore; Tingle RPG, Mother 3, Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Doshin the Giant, Soma Bringer, Sin & Punishment, and even Wii Chess would have been translated and sold to the mass market that hesitated to buy "better than those" games like Endless Ocean and Baiten Kaitos.
I don't buy this, because I literally will never be able to buy this. Not until the real image problem is fixed.

I heard brawl was so badly nerfed because the big boys of Nintendo told Sakurai to dumb it down for the kiddies. Anyways I'm ecxited for this game because Sakurai is a good developer.

We've seen way too much of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.
