Hey all. Lately ive been thinking about video games and i started to wonder: "Is this a waste of time"? I love video games, i own plenty of hits for the wii, ds, gamecube, etc but i go through these phases. Like one day, all i wanna do is play wii but then another day ill be ready to sell every game i own. Im just wondering, has anyone else ever been in this situation? Advice would also be greatly appreciated.

Unless you're hard pressed to make rent, don't sell them. Games are only a waste of time if you're supposed to be doing something else. Otherwise they are great forms of entertainment, just like movies, TV, etc.

I would have to say yes. If I spent more time playing guitar / working out / reading vs playing games I'd be better off. And they can be very addicting at night and affect my sleeping habits for the worse. And a lot of games I play just seem to just pass the time, only the occasional really good game like Super Mario Galaxy or Resident Evil 4 actually create really great memories. I still recall my experiences with those games fondly.

Video games are a hobby. If you let them run your life, then you have a problem. Is Fishing a waste of time? How about going to a baseball game? I play 1-2 hours a day. I dont think I'm wasting my time. I dont watch TV(since the switchover, i dont even have reg tv) so i spend my time sitting killing badguys. I've been doing it for over 20 years, and dont plan on stopping.

Yeah, I like video games, but I'm not obsessed with them. I just play them as a form of entertainment, they don't run my life or anything, so no.

I don't think they are a waste of time. They are a means of entertainment, fun, and relaxation. I guess if video games are a waste of time then anything you do for fun or entertainment is a waste of time. And life wouldn't be very interesting without fun or entertainment.

I also go through such phases. When you get like that, it's just time to put down the controller for a while. I've become burned out and gone about a month without playing games, but my desire to play always returns with time.

uuuh... no, never been on this situation and no, it's not a waste of time (unless you consider TV, books, movies and every other form of entertainment "useless")
