I may be dreaming, but it sure would be great to have a demo channel appear. One which would allow for a portion of gameplay to be unlockable for a brief period of time. Would be perfect for both the classic games, and upcoming Wii titles. Thoughts?

I could really care less about a demo channel.
But even if they released it the Wii's flash memory couldnt hold it.

Enough of these demo channel threads. They're getting really old and not going to happen until we see an HDD.

Fun to see so many upset people in the forum world. Keep up the agression. Not a waste of time or anything. . .

I don't get why you people say you need a HDD for a VC demo. Isn't that like uber small compared to a Wii game demo????

1. No Hard drive

2. Not enough memory

Those are why there won't be a demo channel.

Someone explain to me why a VC demo would fill up the Wiis memory faster than the full game itself.

Wont happen. The Wii only has 512 of internal memory, and I would say a new game needs at least 500 to 1000 megs to run a demo with all of its assets and such!

What if you could access demos over the internet the same way you access videos on the Metroid Prime channel, instead of finding a way to permanently save it on the Wii? Or, it could do something similar, but instead create a demo access point for your DS?

I think a demo channel for Wii games would be pretty hard to implement, but as you said: a demo channel for VC games. That could work, and I want one.

Nintendo should offer up demo versions of the old school games. Maybe offering up a few minutes of gameplay or just the first level of gameplay that you can download in the same way you download the games themselves. They could be free versions of the game to help entice purchase of the full experience. Wii games themselves can't happen due to size limits as fully understood. It would be great to be able to play a bit before purchase, considering how many of those old school games aren't totally familiar to everyone. It would just be a great addition to the Virtual Channel.

I say tht you could have demos because if the wii can hold a whole VC game then of course it could hold a portion of it.

Well nintendo just needs to make it possible to save and take data STRAIGHT from a SD card. That would solve all our problems right there.

Not enough RAM for that.

Eh, I don't know a lot about tech stuff. I was just throwing in an idea.

Well Technically, now we know the Wii can stream stuff thanks to the Metroid Prime 3 Channel. If we had a channel that can do that we can just stream the game and YES the Wii has enough RAM to do that.

I think a VC demo channel wouldn't be necessary because the games are less than $10. Demos for retail games make sense because this way you won΄t be wasting money on a game you've never played.

Coupled with VC downloads, game saves, additional channels, and eventually Wiiware downloads, the demo wouldn't fit. When you play a game from Gametap (for example), it is temporarily downloaded to your harddrive. Demos may not be that large, but one would take up a lot of space on your Wii.

Wii demo's won't be anywhere near 500 - 1000Megabytes. Thats just stupid. The majority of PC demos aren't that big. Wii demo's would be smaller, due to lower texture quality and resolution. SD Memory cards go up to 8GB now. Thats plenty of information. If wii demos are around 100mb each, then your going to get around 80 demos on that card! besides you can always delete them anyway. Plus im sure you would be able to store them on a PC.

Nintendo would need to make it so you can play the demo right off the memory card though. They may even add USB HDD support too.

Thats my opinion, i certainly think that it is possible.

Yeah, too bad the Wii doesn't have enough memory to hold game demos.
