Was Madden 09 Last Madden Made for Reg'lar DS?

My nephew was asking for a portable Madden and he has a DS Lite, I was in a resale and the most recent one I could find was 09... Is it like Tiger Woods where they only made it a few times for the platform but aren't doing it anymore? And I know that buying Madden on the DS isn't the height of the franchise, but that's what he's got for trips in the car, etc. and the reviews I've seen don't make it look as horrid as, say, the Wii version of Madden.

And, is Madden the best NFL game for the DS? I thought I saw some other football game recently but serches aren't turning anything up.

Am I missing something?

Yes it was the last Madden game on the regular DS systems. I played it personally and I wasn't too impressed I would have just rather played the console versions. The controls and the gameplay just felt sloppy. But sadly it is one of the better football games on the DS seeing how there wasn't many. Another football game you should look at is Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff. I consider it the best football game on the platform. It really all comes down to personal taste. But I think those are your 2 best choices in my opinion

Of all the DS Madden games, which has the best features, etc? Is 09 the best of the lot? Or is 2005? The last itteration is not always the best one... I sight NHL94, voted by most hockey fans as a pinnacle in NHL games...

Madden 09 has the most features out of all the Madden games on the DS. It's also I think the best graphics wise and gameplay wise. I played 05 and 07. While it's not a major upgrade from 07 I think it's still better. And for 05 I think 09 is leagues ahead of it. That game had such barebone features. If you really want to get Madden then just stick with 09 it was the last and pretty much the best Madden to bless the original DS.
