Was there a DS game you were excited about, but you were disapointed in the end

I thought Insecticide looked like a good game when I saw the previews a year ago, but it turned out to be a no fun and overpriced game.

Spectrobes is alright but I thought the game would be an epic action adventure game. I was wrong.

Race Driver Create and Race is a good game overall, but I couldnt even get half way, its just to hard. Long Load times in Multiplayer too.

I'm with you on the whole Spectrobes thing. But, one game that really disappointed me was Naruto ninja council 3. I thought it was going to be an awesome fighter game, but no. Can't believe I wasted $30 on that game.

I havent bought a DS game that has disappointed me since I usually do some research before purchasing. However, I was excited about Tecmo bowl but it seems to have received low reviews. I *might* still get it, but I'm not expecting much.

It probably would have to be Rondo of Swords. I was hoping for more out of that game but it became real tedious to play very quickly.

It would definitely be FF3. So many people were ranting about how good that game was. When I Started to play it I asked my self what the heck was this? I forced my selfe to play it until I got off the flying continet In hope of grasping for something that would keep me playing, but in the end it was just a test of my will power. How long could I play such a terrible game. The game looked and played ugly and it's only charm was the mindless doll-like characters. I don't understand how anyone other than a A Square worshiper could like FF3.

Yes...

Final Fantasy 3

The characters all looked exactly like one another, and were devoid of any personality or emotion. Horrendous storyline and extremely poor pace, graphically it was very disappointing too.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

They took the worst elements of Windwaker and exacerbated them; more sailing (sigh), more treasure fishing (sigh), and then there's the Temple of Time. Nothing says fun more than mundane repetition...

Dragon Quest 4: Chapters of the Chosen

As a huge Dragon Warrior fan, I've been looking forward to this for a long time, but with Square-Enix's insistence of altering the dialogue to a level of butchery, I'm disappointed. "Zis iz impozzible!" give it a rest square-enix, you've become like george lucas...

Castlevania: Portait of Ruin

The idea of swapping between two different characters much like the style of Resident Evil Zero was a super cool idea, however the friendly a-i hindered what should have been the best Castlevania since Symphony of the Night...unfortunately it was far from it.

Final Fantasy 4

The few videos this game does have gives characters very inappropriately child-like voices. Also the characters have very skinny legs, which is strange as far as I'm concerned.

I was excited when Metroid Prime Hunters came out but then I really didn't quite like the single player experience.

I'm afraid if I buy Tecmo Bowl Kickoff, it will disappoint me. Metroid Prime Hunters was a purchase that I wish would have never happened. That game had a lot of fail going on.

Uh well, most of the games I have, I played for about three seconds before realizing they were a ripoff.

Nintendogs was probably one of the worst,  completely overrated, limited in everything. Dementium, one of the only horror games on the ds, pretty average.

I was saving The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass for ages, cos I know I would be hooked on it and it had awesome reviews. But it bore me so much I could never be bothered to finish the last boss...plus the world is tiny to explore as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was the biggest dissapointment in a DS game, 2nd most dissapointing only to Hellgate London. The story was good and the graphics were pleasent to look at. The controls killed the game for me. If Nintendo had just peppered the game lightly with some touch controls instead of everything being controlled by the stylus, I think I would have liked it.

Final Fantasy 3...

Playing it trough and trough is actually more or less like a chore.

Prepare to grind like you've never grinded before if you want to use the high power spells...

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker definately has level grinding, but I still liked the game.

I liked Days of Ruin. Finished all chapters and i am playing the bonus levels now. Rather disappointing: - Kirby Canvas Curse: Draw your way through the level sounds like a brilliant concept. But in the game it turns out to be not very much fun. - Meteos: Kind of original mechanism, but still just a tile-match game with pretty uninteresting game modes.

I wouldn't say I was disappointed with the game, but the controls for Super Mario 64 DS got quite frustrating. The game itself was great though.

Fable II is a joke. I don't care how immersive or beautiful it is or the "innovative\experimental" quality of the gameplay, when you die you fall down and then get back up with full life and a free force push to clear out any enemies...dieing doesn't matter. So playing it doesn't matter much either, like the old "Monkeys and Typewriters" metaphor If I pushed forward on the L Stick and kept hitting X eventually I would win the game.

This is the worst design concept since Oblivion leveled up the monsters with you....6 random bandits attacking all with an Excaliber grade glass weapon, ok.

Fable 2 is a joke, it's not even a game once you remove any penalties for dieing, theirs no reason to level up your Toughness (max hp) because dieing sometimes even improves your situtation in battle. Disgustingly lame.

well, I guess that wasn't a DS game...sorry, Portrait of Ruins dual character idea was broken, basically wasted two buttons on the controller, "switch"? why would I switch characters, her spell book attack stinks and "dual mode"? why would I want to share my hp with a statue that immediately finds the worst place to be. besides when jumping around they teleport in and out in a desperate attempt to stay by you...the idea was beter than the exceution, now the actual game was okay, heck most Castlevasnia games are simply because Konami seems to have a patented formula for creating "fun" in a game environment, something that is becoming increasingly rare in direct contrast with the development of Dirext X 11 volumetic Shader 3.0 cell shading skeletal mesh bump mapping antialiasing technology....maybe game developers should be hiring better Designers and less programmers.

"Spitfire Heroes" - A WWII flight combat game that could have been a LOT better given the graphics and controls... they made it way too simplified and then ramped the AI of the enemies to the point of killing the player on "Easy" with minimal effort. Why can't I get on the tail of an ME109 with a barrel roll and a little air brake? Oh, that would be because the plane won't ALLOW you to loop... oh, ok... yeah... uh-huh...

"Godzilla Unleashed" - So it was a side-scroller... does that mean it has to be so easy and non-functional that you could close your eyes and eventually you'd make it to the end of the level? Must every G game suck? Guess so...

Guilty gear, there was no incentive to play.

Guitar hero: world tour, i thought it was okay, but everyone overhyped it.

Kirby superstar ultra, it was way too short.

This. Sonic Chronicles is one of the best DS RPGs out right now (still not better then FF4 or DQ4 though. :/)

I've yet to play a DS game that's disappointed me, and I've played the likes of Pokemon Ranger, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, Chronicles, Izuna and Etrian Odyssey 2.

In fact, I haven't played a SINGLE DS game I haven't liked.

The first DS game I bought is still probably the most disappointing. Wario Ware: Touched! Beat it within a couple of hours and felt no compulsion to replay any part of it.

I thought I was the only one who played that game... and yes, it got boring fast.

I heard great things about TWEWY from people on this board, but when I bought it, it just didn't impress me. I couldn't see what the critics were raving about.Â
