I bought a new dsi recently and are looking to getan sd card so I can put some cd's and whatnot on it. It sounds like you can use almost any type of sd card, so I figured before I hit up the stores today I was wondering what brand and size some of you guys have for the dsi? and how has it been working for you? thanks.

aye, but like i say they'll all work regardless of brand, most you really need to worry about is maybe doing a little research (maybe read customer reviews and such) to make sure that the brand in question tends to be make reliable cards but other than that anythings a good bet

Class 6 4GB Patriot...which is completely overkill (the class 6 part). Even the size is overkill, as it's tough to fill up with music, you can't store DSiWare on it, and the photos are tiny.

Only cost $10, though, so I can't complain.

edit - for other devices I've owned Patriot, Kingston, and AData, haven't had any issues with them. The vast majority of my SD cards are Patriot, though (four 4GBs, one 8, one 16)

DJ_Lae

Actually you can. All my DSiWare is backed up on my SD card since the system memory only has so many blocks and I have 27 games/apps. It allows for swapping of games without having to download them again.

To the original topic question. I think I have a Sandisk 4gb SDHC card. I know the system supports up to 32gb though.

if you want my advice, don't go to a store, they love to overprice stuff like that. you can get a $40 SD card on amazon for $10-15

EDIT:

for example (links aren't working for some reason)

bestbuy has an 8GB sandisk SD card for $42.99, +tax. on Amazon, i can find the same card for $11.49 + ~$8.00 shipping. the shipping is overpriced, but it's still a much better deal

so basically any sd card will work for the dsi. Thats good to know then so I have plenty of options and it looks like I might have to do some lookin on amazon if there are gonna be deals like that compared to the stores in town.

True, I should have clarified. I meant that it didn't support it like the Wii, where you can save and run downloaded games directly from the SD card.

Ahh, gotcha. I was wondering if thats what you meant but figured for the sake of the OP, I'd post that info anyways.

Sandisk and Toshiba brands are good.
just about all SD cards are finepenpusher
I'd have to disagree with the above statement. I used to have the same idea of SD cards, but the last one I used (some bootleg version of a branded one) corrupted all my files. I had gotten it because it was a couple of bucks cheaper than a branded card AND had a higher capacity. Should have figured that I'd get what I paid for. I chucked that one one and got a Toshiba one instead - no problems after that.

Nah I wish mine was like 8 gigs instead of 4 gigs, could totally use the space for music, storing DSiware on it is pretty much pointless for me so far...
