What game do you think is going to be game of the year for the Wii?

I say Animal Crossing City Folk because Brawl came out to soon and Animal Crossing City Folk is coming out a good time for the year.

okami (im not sure if that was released in the states though this year....but in europe it was released in june i think).

i cant think of another wii game released this year that comes close to be honest. some great games but okami is almost zelda quality.

Well my own personal opinion is No More Heroes.

Though if you're going to talk about nominees for Wii GOTY then I'll also include Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and De Blob.

Yeah, probably Super Smash Bros. Brawl, unless Animal Crossing: City Folk is something truly special.

Persoanally, No more Hereos. But i think that MarioKart Wii will take it. I think that if Wario Shake was just 2x longer, then it would be a contender, that game is really cool.

Brawl came out too soon?! It was delayed like five months. Also, the award is for game of the year, not game of the holiday season, so why would it matter anyway.

I think Brawl is the main contender, but maybe De Blob or No More Heroes have a shot.

Well, your loudness is certainly no match for logic or reason.

I can see why people would say SSBB: it's pretty much the most talked about game on the Wii Forum. I personally found it to be fairly one dimensional, and while fun at first, it got old.

Does that make it the best game that came out this year, though? Popularity is probably only one factor in choosing the best game... i think a game needs to have a lot of things to be considered GotY... gameplay, sound, visuals, and it needs to represent what the Wii is all about.

Of the games released this year, I think GotY could go to:

de Blob, Animal Crossing, Little King's Story, Wario Land, Mario Kart or SSBB.

there are a couple that could have been, but they just missed the mark... We Ski is fantastic, but if that mountain was about twice as big and featured online play it would have been outstanding.

And of course, who can forget about Pimp My Ride :P

I agree... I think... that sentence is all messed up without commas and 5hit.

I'm pulling for De Blob, though I doubt that will truly make it, otherwise I'd put my money on Mario Kart Wii since Brawl missed the mark in alot of areas and Mario Kart Wii expanded on the series (if you can call it that) while also finally getting the online play down for Nintendo and finally giving us a decent system to use that is nearly lag free.

All though it's overrated, the best Wii game this year will be SSBB--especially if you look at the combination of good reviews and mega sales. It's the highest selling Wii game with good reviews (over a 90 percent average) this year.

The real question is this: Will any Wii game be at least a candidate for overall Game of the Year? I don't think any Wii title this year holds a candle to the GoTY candidates on the other consoles. At least last year the Wii had two potential GoTY candidates (Galaxy and MP3).

Don't get me wrong, SSBB is indeed a good game, but for some reason I just haven't been able to get back into it since April. I guess I was really disappointed with the online features. My random matches hardly connected and no one on my friends list were ever on (many of them people on this forum). It gets boring playing only against the AI after awhile, and don't know anyone who I can play in a local multiplay match. Also, I'm more into RPGs and action/aventure games anyway. I haven't been crazy about fighters since the days I played Tekken 3 back in my school days.
