Topic.

I have only ever seen it used once in Gamecube games myself, Starfox Adventures and once in one Wii game which was Spiderman 3 (tackier by comparison).

Is it difficult to programme or overlooked?

They should use it more if not.

Developers must not think it's worth the effort.

i remember that in starfox adventures. quite an amaxing effect. its a shame devs havent taken a shot at it since. rare really could do amazing things on ninty hardware.

on the wii, galaxy has the same fur effect seen on the moogels in FFCC (though for some reaosn FFCC on wiiware doesent have that effect).

im guessing its a B*&CH to pull off...thats why devs stay away from it. id imagine that they would need specialised skills in assembly to do it, good skills with C++ wont cut it. the wii is not an easy console to develop for when u start going down the rabbit hole...so to speak.

Edit: sorry just thinking about it....starfox adventures was a really amazing technical achievement. pillars made of water (like the water in galaxy, not some blue texture), real time lighting as seen in splinter cell on the xbox, the fur on fox. no loading and really detaild textures (for the time). who ever developed the tech for the game at rare......pats on back all round. really a stunning looking game.

Yes, it is a nice technique indeed. Tis a shame that more games don't use it.

A new DK platformer would be awesome if all the Kongs used it. I don't think we'll see that anytime soon though. :(

I'm surprised the new BK for X360 isn't using it to be honest.

You'd think Zelda: Twilight Princess would have used it on Epona, the goats, warthogs and small grass. That said, it sounds a bit greedy since it did give us 'heat haze' and a whole ton of other effects.

Yea and anyway who cares about that anyway. They should put it in next gen but in old games it's not worth the effort. Also the harvest moon series has grass effects.
