My favorite video game series for the Wii is the Zelda series, it has a lot of action and the games are very fun and are considered some of the best Nintendo games ever. On the other side there are the Metroid games which are Nintendo's main FPSs even though they are only partially shooters. The Metroid games are also very popular and successful. What is better Zelda or Metroid? What will be a better game Metroid: other M or Zelda Wii? I think Zelda is better.
That's the spirit, take a side and argue over the 2 franchises. This is a fair comparison because they are both popular Nintendo franchises and are both releasing a new game this year and are both action games. Only one has a mid evil dragon feel and the other is sci-fi aliens.
I think for the most part people like Zelda. Link and Mario are like Nintendo's icons. Samus is also cool but the Metroid games don't reach the level of Zelda. How about the Mario and Mario Kart franchises? How do they fit into this? I think they are great.
Let me put it like this: The only 2 games that I have ever dared to call perfect are Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime. But since I must choose a side here, I have to go with Zelda. But really its a numbers thing. Zelda just has more games which means more epicness as a series.

Some were not the best like the DS games but the console games are the ones that have the magic.
I've never actually played a metroid game :shock:. I never had/knew of anyone who had/heard of thenes or sness games when I was a kid and I didn't purchase a gamecube. I am eager to get the trilogy especially since I hear it's been discontinued and it could be my only chance to redeem myself. Other M looks pretty sick as far as I've seen too. So at least for the time being it's obv Zelda where I have played almost every console game except for the freaky cartoon ones like windwaker.
Zelda. No contest really. There have been more Zelda games released than Metroid games, but aside from the CDi Phillips releases of three "Zelda" games there has never been a bad Zelda game. Metroid on the other hand has really only had Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 1 as excellent examples while other games just kind of tried to exactly imitate those two games. Zelda never really changed much, but it always feels extremely rewarding.
I get a ton of flack on the Wii boards for my opinion on Metroid Prime 3, but that game is awful. Twilight Princess on the other hand is absolutely stunning. Both series have had great games, but Zelda has never disappointed me, while Metroid has with it's newest entry. But even comparing the other Metroid games to the Zelda games, I really have to give the edge to Zelda. There's a reason why it's Nintendo's flagship series and I doubt Nintendo will ever allow anyone to screw up Zelda.

This is pretty hard. From the Metroid series I've only played the first Metroid Prime, which is just completely awesome, and the beginning of Echoes, and from Zelda I've only played OoT and TP, which are both brilliant.
I think I'd have to say I prefer Metroid Prime over the Zeldas that I've played, and the way Echoes is going I think I'll love that more than either of the Zeldas I've played too.
The thing that makes Zelda so great is that with each game there is a new feel. With OOT there were the 3D graphics, in MM there was a completely different kind of gameplay, in WW there was the ocean and boat and the whole cell shaded deal, with TP there was the twilight realm and the wolf. Also there are the 2 DS games, PH was just a remake of WW only on a smaller screen with a touch screen, but ST delivered a whole new approach with the controlling of robot things and a train. Metroid does not have that kind of thing in it's games. Yah, they are different in some way, but not to the point where you say Wow. Zelda is a lot better.

To name a few there is Starfox, F-Zero, and Kirby. The only ones that have had mainstream sucess on the wii are mario, zelda, and metroid.
Metroid hands down. While I didn't think all the prime games were amazing or anything, the first was, and I still get addicted to the 2D sidescrolling metroids at least once a year... Zelda on the other hand, I go back and play LttP once in a while, but I haven't really liked Zelda since OoT.

Yah, cause after waiting 4 years for TP I was disappointed.
I prefer The Legend of Zelda. Some of the staples of the Metroid series such as frequent backtracking and little to no sense of where to go really makes it hard for me to get into the series.
I really like 2d Zelda and Metroid. I dislike all 3d Metroids (prime is not my cup of tea) and dislike all 3d Zeldas (except the n64 titles) all in all though, I've had more fun with Metroid. (It annoys me to no end how I bought a ds expecting more 2d goodness like the gba had and ended up with more crap like spirit tracks and more touch screen gimmicks)
