Wireless Fidelity, or 802.11B/G, is basically a standard for sharing a (usually broadband) internet connection wirelessly. Wireless routers are the most common way to employ Wifi, though Nintendo also has a wireless dongle that plugs into the back of your PC (it only works with Nintendo products though).

It just means going online.

If you decide you want to don't waste your money on an adapter, instead buy a wireless router.
