I got it pretty much for the Virtual Console, Dragon Quest Swords and Smash (which wasnt all that great).

i wanted a wii so i could play video games...bbtcbbtc
Be more elaborate, silly! :P jk.. I purchased the Nintendo Wii for "classic-like" games. I miss the days of SNES and N64, and my era with the Gamecube was short-lived. Next-gen games are missing that classic gameplay that are seldom or rare these days. For instance, right now, I'm playing mainly Gamecube, PS2, and Wii games. Gameplay is just important as graphics. They go hand and hand.
Pretty much so I could play Zelda the first day it came out. But I knew there would eventually be other games to justify to purchase as well.
I remember getting t cos I read about it, and the hype slowly built up, I read an article on ign and there was a line saying how after a few years high res textures would get old, and that the wii would shine then. Id also gotten into nintendo games a year previous and I really liked the way they felt.
Basically I got it for nintendo games. And Im not ashamed to say that one of the game si was looking forward to was Red steel. (es I know its not made by nintendo :p)
I heard about motion controls and I nearly crapped myself in awe. The first thing I thought was "FPS WILL BE EPIC" and now we don't seem to have all that many but....well....w/e
that and there was absolutely no way I was NOT going to get to play the new zelda game again. I didn't get a gamecube til my PS2 broke and missing out on windwaker for so long was a nightmare
Nintendo is like the Mercedes of video game developers and I happen to enjoy the finer things in life. I'll buy practically anything Nintendo makes.
I got my Wii to sell it to someone with much more money than patience and therefor turn a profit. I made the mistake of plugging it in "just to make sure it worked."
Next thing I know I'm buying WiiPlay for the extra controller and Umbrella Chronicles 'just to see if it's any good.' Now I have wiipoints falling outta my ears and 70 something Miis falling out of other places. I have classic controllers and zombie shooters and little multi-colored latex things scattered all over my bedroom (HA!) I also have a nice set of dark circles under my eyes from staying up til 3am to find that level 7 dungeon on Zelda. I can't stop playing Smash Brothers because I'm sure if I try hard enough, Pit will do something extraordinary that only I (and not my girlfriend) can make him do, which will make me King of All Things Wii in my domicile.
I only wanted to turn a buck, yanno?
Three main reasons:
There you go, simple, but true.
Same for me and I agree Smash wasn't all that great.I got it pretty much for the Virtual Console, Dragon Quest Swords and Smash (which wasnt all that great).
-Sigil-
the new controller intrigued me and, with the GC dead where i lived, i also needed it for TP.
i just thought there were so many cool ideas in the system that, at the very least, i had to try it.
