With the Nintendo Switch about to release in 3 months, ive been trying to finish a bunch of games so i can focus and enjoy the launch games when they go live. Jumping into Wii U late, i had to play catch up on a bunch of games. And since i dont game like i use to, this made it easy for me to gain a pile of games i havnt played or finished. Plus with games like Smash, Mario Kart, and Splatoon, you can easily get behind on things.

Im trying to knock out my Wii U games first and then my 3DS. Games i have sitting in my library im wanting to complete are Hyrule Warriors, Twilight Princess HD, Dragon Quest VII, Etrian Odyssey IV, Fire Emblem Fates, Monster Hunter Generations, and Kirby Planet Robobot. So what games does Nintendo Club members have that they are working on finishing?

@iandizion713: DQ7, Monster Hunter Generations, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, Paper Mario: Color Splash, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Bravely Second: End Layer, and, finally, Pokémon Sun and Moon.

No Wiiu. Bought a wii, and made sure it was gamecube compatible. £40. i.e. the price of a PS4 game.

Many games to finish, lots of entertainment to be had. At this point, very little need to buy any newer games.

I have finished all the games I played months before the release of Switch. This is due to my deep focus on this year's presidential election season.

You gonna try Skyward Sword? What games you plan to play on Wii?

All of them hopefully. With the Gamecube and virtual console, the amount of value for that poultry price is astronomical.

It could easily to a year to shoot through them all.

@iandizion713: If the battery life is weak in the Switch? My 3DS won't be going anywhere.

But on the thread Q note; I'll probably mostly be buying Virtual Console games and hunting more DS classics.

For more current stuff. Still playing Pokémon Sun and Monster Hunter 4G during my travels.

This has been my sole focus since the trailer came out. I've got a pretty huge WiiU backlog and a long way to go. I'm not focused on my 3DS games as much as I don't consider the Switch to be a replacement for it. Right now I'm playing Ninja Gaiden 3 but I have the following to finish as well:

  • Captain Toad
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted U
  • Tekken Tag Tournament
  • 007 Legends
  • Transformers Prime
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
  • Ben 10 Omniverse
  • Mighty No. 9
  • New Super Luigi U

I also have Twilight Princess HD and Mass Effect 3 which I'll probably just play on other systems. Not sure I can make it through all of those in time. I have a few Wii games to get through too.

I may hold off on the Switch for a year or so after release. I just got a New 3DS a couple of weeks ago from Black Friday.

I'm working on:

  • SSB4
  • A Link Between Worlds

I already have and will play these after:

  • Hyrule Warriors Legends
  • Majora's Mask 3D
  • Ocarina of Time 3D
  • Monster Hunter 4U

I plan to also get MK7, NSMB2 and SM3DL ... and I promise that's it.

Maybe... :P

@flipin_jackass:Nice, yeah, i think many will be playing a bunch of 3DS games after them great deals. Them things are flying off the shelves. Our local stores are still sold out and Gamestop sold out today.

@itstotallymike: You like Ninja Gaiden 3? I havnt even opened mine yet. I got it for a pretty good deal that was hard to pass.

@iandizion713: it's not bad. I got it for a deal too. It was like $9 with free shipping at WalMart. It's certainly worth the money I spent. It's worth a play I think but I like a lot of games other people hate lol

I won't be cracking open my WiiU till Christmas but when I do the games I plan on giving a play through are The Wonderful 101 and Super Mario 3d World. I don't plan on getting the Switch for at least a year.

I want to see if 3rd parties support it and wait for a holiday bundle. I still think it's a mistake for Ninty not to release the Switch either for Holiday 2016 or to hold out until Fall 2017. They will miss those holiday sales methinks.

Between the 3DS and Wii U? Oracle of Ages, Wind Waker HD, The Minish Cap, Twilight Princess HD, Phantom Hourglass, Sprite Tracks, Skyward Sword & Link Between Worlds.

I've been on OoA for a pretty long time though, I want to finish it for the first time, but if I'm honest, I'm hating it, really hating it, more than I hated OoS, and I hated that one too, but this stupid Goron dancing mini-game is damn near impossible.

I don't get how people can think releasing in March will hurt the Switch? I'm just gonna throw it out there, but I don't see the Switch selling well day one regardless of the time of year it releases. It might do a bit better than Wii U, thanks to it been a successor to both the Wii U and 3DS, but after the negative impact of the Wii U, a lot of people will hesitate.

This is why a March release is a much better choice. This gives them 8 months to get ready for Black Friday and the systems first holiday. If you look at the lists of known and rumored games coming in the first year of the Switch's life, it's pretty impressive. 3D Mario, BotW, Pokemon Stars, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Skyrim, Dark Souls Trilogy, Sonic 2017, Dragon Quest X & XI, Mario Rabbids RPG, just to name a few. Also on top of that is the rumored GameCube virtual console.

This makes so much more sense to have it's first holiday be 8 months after launch when they can advertise having all those games, instead of launching it in the middle of it's first holiday with just one or two of them.

@link456710: It has complex control methods. Some games use this, some that, some this and that, etc. Sometimes you feel like playing off-screen but cant.

@spike6958: Every single console last gen released in November including the Wii, just prior to black Friday. Ditto for every single console in this gen including the WiiU. That isn't by accident. The Switch is the first console in 2+ gens to buck this trend.

VG companies release prior to black Friday because little Johnny always wants the shiny new toy for Christmas. The excitement of having a new console generally lasts for 3-5 months by which time the first wave of big games after launch comes out for a console.

Remember that we(i.e. gaming cognoscenti) are a drop in the bucket regarding the VG consumer market. Most of the market is driven by little Johnny and soccer moms. If mom bought a ton of Christmas games(or a Bone, PS4, WiiU) for Christmas 2016 chances are they aren't going to buy a new system in March 2017. And VG makers know this and [traditionally] respect it.

I don't concern myself with finishing vs. not finishing games.

Of course, you know you JUST KNOW I have beaten Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. But that doesn't mean I stopped playing.

If games don't come to the switch, I can just finish them later on the Wii U. If they come to the switch, I can enjoy them in a new environment.

@sayyy-gaa: I don't think you understand the unique, and difficult, situation the Switch is in though.

Switch is launching mid-generation. If the Switch had launched this holiday, with just a small handful of games, and unsure support, against the PS4 and X1, who each have a huge backlog of games, and clear support, it would have had a very poor first holiday, which is the time they can't afford for the system to do poorly.

Nintendo doesn't expect the Switch to do well at launch. They're predicting just 2 million units sold worldwide in the first month. In fact they're also not expecting soccer moms and kids to be part those 2 million sales. Go back and watch the reveal trailer for Switch. No kids, no families. They showed adults (the average age of gamers is actually late 20's to early 30's) .

It's fairly clear, at least to me, what Nintendo's goal is for it's first year. They're targeting the system at core gamers first, who're the most likely people to buy a new console at launch anyway, regardless of what time of year it releases, and are hoping that the steady stream of games they have planned for the first year, including several big hitters like Mario, Zelda and Pokemon, gets word of mouth spreading to the average consumer in time for Black Friday and the systems first holiday, so that it actually still looks appealing when put up against the PS4 and X1, and that the additional portability of the system gives it an edge over them.

In the end, with the Switch's launch, there is simply no point looking at what consoles traditionally do, because the situation the Switch is in, isn't traditional.

I recently got a 3DS again, after spending over half of the year giving the Vita a second chance. So, I have a lot of games to catch up on. But that's okay, because I game slow, and also because I likely won't get the Switch for some time. I am very interested in the Switch, though.

I was a slow entering into this current generation, because I wanted to catch up on all of the Wii and DS games that I missed. I will probably do the same this generation, and get my fill of the Wii U and 3DS before moving on the Switch. There are still so many 3DS games that I would like to play, and I don't even have a Wii U yet. Hopefully the Wii U will get really cheap when the Switch comes out.

Thankfully my backlog for 3DS is actually pretty manageable. Here's what I got to finish (that I remember):

1. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil survivor Overclocked

2. Donkey Kong Country

3. Wario Land 3

4. Some random RPG called Grinsia I downloaded for some reason

5. Got a copy of Dragon Quest VIII preordered so that when it comes out

That's about it, I think. I've played the shit out of my 3DS since I've gotten it. There are still other games I play, though, like MH4U, Smash, Etrian Odyssey IV, etc.

I still need to pick up Yo-kai Watch, Bayonetta 2, & maybe Hyrule Warriors. I love Zelda but not sure if I'll be a huge fan of the Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay of HW, if I can manage to grab a cheap copy for either system sometime down the road then I definitely will though. I'm pretty much caught-up on everything I already own.

@megabutterfree: 3DS will be easier to get for cheap. The Wii U one is starting to become hard to find. I recommend it to try if you like good action. Ive played Dynasty Warriors for awhile now, since PS2, and i found it to be best. They cater to Zelda fans nicely and even put some good difficultly in it. Boss fights are good too.

The Wii U version is a good investment as its valued high and i predict the value will rise. So if you dont like it or finish it and want to get rid of it...you can sell for good price.

The 3DS version has a crap ton of the DLC that you had to pay for in the Wii-U version, included from the start. They have added new stuff since then, even.

Well since I was broke and had no time in my college days I just bought the N3DS in May. So I have a lot to catch up on and even in my DS library. And with this holiday I just bought even more games.

3DS:

  • Pokemon Moon
  • Pokemon alpha sapphire (I have no interest in 3rd gen but it was $25 and can't truly be called a pokemon master without playing it)
  • Disney Art Academy (can't rush masterpieces lol)
  • 5 of the 7 Professor Layton games
  • Fire Emblem Awakening and Birthright
  • Rune Factory 4
  • Story of the Seasons
  • the 3 Zelda games
  • Luigi Dark Moon
  • Mario Kart 7 (though that doesn't have a true ending)
  • Super Smash Bros (no true ending either)

And thats just my 3ds list. I'm starting on the Phoenix Wright series for DS. I just bought the sonic collection for it too. Still haven't finished harvest moon Tale of two towns or pokemon conquest.

I still need to finish some games for Wii one day too.

Don't get me started on ps4. Overwatch is the reason I can't get any progress done. Originally it was pokemon X because I attempted to complete the dex. But I don't buy consoles at launch anyways so I got some more wiggle room.
