What's with all the remakes lately?

Nintendo keeps scrambling for money because they keep selling their same old products for too much than it's worth. Forget the hardware and games that are 20 years old, WE WANT SOMETHING NEW!!!!! NO MORE REMAKES!!!!!!!!!

Zelda OOT, Starfox3d, Devil Survivor, Rayman 3d, should I go on?

I think that's pretty normal at the beginning of a system's lifespan, developers use these relatively quick projects to buy them time for their normal releases.

Indeed. I think the only games I'm excited about now are Cave Sotry 3d (Another remake!) and Resident Evil Revelations....although I'm dissapointed it's about Chris and Jill AGAIN! Why not make another game about Leon? The Leon games (2, 4) were the most succeessful! :(

For semantics sake, nobody is considering those games remakes byr remastered because they don't offer new content as a remake should.

Me too, Leon and Claire are my favourite, she was one of the main in RE2, but not totally main... and Chris and Jill are ugly, so I hate 'em! :p

If you haven't realized, the 3DS came out a few months ago. Remakes and ports are the easiest to make and gives us something to play while we wait for original games. More original games are coming out later this year and in 2012.

Developers need time to make games. Deal with it.

I like Leon and Claire more because they're good-looking hehe, in my opinion looks of the main character matter a lot :D and that's why I hate Chris and Jill. Also, Capcom has made 3 games in a row about Chris and Jill, but since Resident Evil 4 not a single Leon game. I was happy that Mercenaries 3D has Claire, unhappy that you had to unlock her an unhappy that it didn't have Leon.

Yeah, it does get old when they keep doing the same stuff over and over again. RE needs a change. And not the Obama kind of change!!!

Yea usually hate remakes - but I don't mind it this time as I never played OoT or Starfox 64 (never owned a N64). At least they aren't like Capcom - releasing unfinish game SF4, Marvel vs Capcom, RE5 ...then 3 months down the track, here's another edition with some new characters & tweak "hey its a new game!" :P

Leon just oozes cool :) his suplex move is awesome in RE4 overall just more agile, Chris is just got turned into a big chunky meathead...didn't like Claire, prefer Ada..hubba! hubba!

It's not just Nintendo though, this has been going on with every platforma and now there's HD remasters to add to the mix. Unfortunately, with the high cost of development and mostly minimal returns (unless the games is part of a well known franchise), taking risk doesn't sound like a good idea.

Yes,we get lots of "remakes",but most of them are good.

Sure,they just want to make money,which in one hand is lame,but on the other OoT3D is cool.:D

Even if it's such an old game....

And like other users said,it's the first year of the 3DS,cut it some slack...

So I've finally started digging into Ocarina on 3DS. I have only played through this game once, in full. I forgot just how brilliant this game is. And, while I'm split on the whole remake/port/remastered/whatever word we're using issue, I take back anything negative I've said in regards to Ocarina. It is just THAT good. It is almost like reading through a classic epic fairytale. Did I really want a new zelda? Of course, but I'm in my later 20s, and I'm very happy for those that get to play Ocarina in this format for the first time. I'm just a big kid that still likes nintendo at times, but I realize I'm likely not their target audience.

*Slightly off topic: I like how Zelda mostly teaches good moral yet you break into a castle because some light told you to. In the process of doing that, you push the castles milk delivery into a river. ...Then you get to Goron City, where everybody is asleep or sad because all the good rocks are no longer available.:lol:

I don't hate these remakes at all it may be annoying for some but for people who never got the chance to play some of the games it gives them the chance to finally play it. Such as Star Fox 64 never played it on the N64 as I never bought the system but I played the first game on the SNES and I loved it. I don't mind buying remakes if I haven't bought it before but then again I'm a sucker for when it comes to the Mega Drive (Genesis) collections as I do tend buy them.
