The ONLY thing I don't like about DS lite is the d pad, it's just way too small. More often than not, I use my regular DS to play games that need more accurate control of the d pad.
The small d pad and overall small square shape give my hands the 'NES cramps'...bummed.
I know what you mean. I liked the D-pad on the GBA SP much better. The DS Lite's D-pad is simply too "mushy." You can't perform accurate button combos with any great precision. I tried to play Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo Revival for GBA on the DS, and my thumb was absolutely burning after just 3 fights. I would have liked that they retained the same D-pad as before.Tungsten88
I completely agree. The new D-pad works fine, but it feels so uncomfortable. It is constantly moving around, and I sometimes even feel like I might break it. The SP had a D-pad that was stronger, and because of that I never play a GBA game on my DS unless I have to.
Nintendo is trying to strenghten your thumbs so when they release better games, you can play them with ease.chuckleechuck
This is either
1. A joke (please be joking).
2. A fanboy's spin on an ongoing problem.

I would like to do a D-pad transplant operation....

I don't doubt that that's possible, in fact it's probably already been done by somebody somewhere. If only I knew of a site where I could buy a DS Lite with the Phat's D-pad, I might consider buying it.

I wonder why they decided to make the change. I guess their thinking went like this, "It must be different in every way except for the screens." If they hadn't, I wouldn't be at risk of getting tendinitis everytime I played SF2 on my DS! I suppose if you're willing to take apart an old DS and your DS Lite, you could do it yourself with minimal fuss.

I tend to be very bad at doing things like that. I suppose I could do it myself, but I'm likely to render my DS completely useless if I try.
