"incorrect"? Other people's opinions are incorrect?

Jaysonguy

Yes, sometimes they are. For example:

And strip away the nintendo fanboyism and you have a simplistic and subpar fighting game.

Power_Wrist

Ehhhh it's not too far off.

It's a basic masher, it's a pillowfight that's a lot of fun to play and it's a greatly polished pillowfight but it's still a pillowfight

It's a solid 8 with everything, it's got some big drawbacks but if you know what's in it before you buy it then you're getting a solid package.

I'm gonna go ahead and completely disagree with you. Brawl imo is in no way a button-masher. I doubt someone who button mashes could ever, even after hundreds of tries, beat me in Brawl. In fact, I doubt a button-masher could ever beat anyone that's halfway decent in Brawl. This, of course, is assuming one plays without items (which I, as well as many, many others greatly enjoy) and are fighting on a stage where luck doesn't play a large role.

The online portion of the game is lacking, but still fun. SSE was only alright in single player but it was a blast in co-op. And considering it's more of a bonus mode than anything, it's cool with me. If they had left it out, no one would have noticed. So, imo, an 8 hour co-op bonus with cool bossfights and sick cutscenes is great.

I'm sitting back and waiting for someone to be offended by your opinion and argue against it.

the lackluster SSE and online are not the reasons why this game fell well short of being a great game. the slow and shallow fighting system is what ruins the game withtoo much being automated. even when the stocks are lowered to 3 the matches still take longer and are terrible to watch if you are not playing. smash 64 and melee did not have the SSE or online yet were both great games. unfortunately i still find it to be the best game on the wii at the moment.

Andrn

^this, that and it was severely overhyped, plus its numerous delays only helped to add to the overhype by adding rumors, then crushed hopes and dreams into dust when the game was actually released.

Still, it's a decent game.

well it crushed nothing for me cause i wasn't one of the enormous group of people that hyped things that were totally incorrect like people thinking * was going to be in it.

* represents a large group of unrealistic characters.

Plus i never planned on getting a wii during those 30 times they held it back so i didn't care, and i didn't know what to expect when i got it cause i didn't fantasize for ages about it like everybody else.

i think it's a great game and people dissing it isn't cool (but they can all have their opinions), i agree the online sucks, and when it was released in eu/au/nz and i tried to play online with my friend online and it was worse than 'play vs anyone'. but i've never been much of an online person, i've never felt the need to prove myself to strangers.

plus ppl online are terrible, it's harder against lvl 9 comps.

I've played enough Street Fighter II, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur and Dead Or Alive since 1994 to know that Smash Bros. is ANYTHING but a button masher. You can say the Smash Ball gives newcomers some (maybe unfair) leverage, and I'd say that's correct, but Smash Bros. is the only fighting game that leaves absolutely no room for button smashing.

.....are u for real?

lol cause you don't have to mash the buttons, you can just hold A and they'll automatically do it for you!

What does everyone have against subspace, I really enojyed it and it was one of my favourite parts of the game. In fact ive barely played and multiplayer and i still find it to be lots of fun.

And I just have to say this, Jaysonguy, have you ever talked about brawl without saying wash, rinse, repeat?!?! Lol.

I love the game. I've played it online with random people more than anything else (just about 50 hours), and have not had half as bad an experience as people are claiming to have had. Input lag is present in pretty much every online game that exists. How much there is, and if its really noticeable is a different story.

The majority of the random brawls I've played haven't had much lag, or not enough to effect the game, or whine about. So I have had pretty smooth games for the most part. Thats not to say that freezing and laggy games don't occur on occasion. Its something you just don't have control over (accept for your connection), since you don't know where the people are that your playing, nor how good their connection is. If I do enter a game where the input lag is a real big problem, I can quickly exit the game and most of the time find another within a minute or so.

If your connection is firewalled and you can't find random games, thats your problem. If you have 50 other people using the internet in your house on the same network while your online attempting to play brawl, don't blame the game. Or if your wii only gets a 75% wifi signal from the router.

Are you playing Super Smash Broz. Brawl, or Super Smash Bros. Brawl?? Brawl does have motion controls when using the wii-mote + nunchuck setup, and they work perfectly. Do you people read manuals? The motion controls are turned off by default.

Shake the wii remote left right up or down to perform the desired smash attack. You can also use the motion controls to throw items, attack while dashing, flying attack, and airbourne attacks.

The SSE is pretty cool and well done if you ask me, and I'm only at about 40%. Just playing this game vs. cpus can be fun, so the addition of all this extra stuff is awesome if you ask me.

If your not still playing Brawl, its no ones fault but your own.

I was just confused why some people absolutly hated the game, I wasn't sure why until now.

x_SuperMario_x

Nobody absolutely hates it. It's a good game, great with multiplayer, but it's not perfect. That's it.

He never said it was perfect, you shouldn't be so quick to jump on people for asking a question. He asked what was wrong with Brawl,

it's in the topic title.

Have you ever heard of a game with a story so bad that the site has to post an explanation of it and you have to read it to understand the story?

I've heard a lot of incorrect slams against brawl and i want to know if you don't like it why you don't.randomguy15

all high selling games get slammed. Halo, GTA, MGS etc. The best thing to do is buy it and see for yourself. You don't just get a 9.5 game on GS when they regularly give low scores for no apparent reason *cough* lost winds.

It's too much like Melee, the Subspace Emissary was absolutely awful, the new stages are bothersome, the once-great Event Mode is disappointing, the online system is bare-bones,and it doesn't feel as addictive or engaging.Just my criticisms.

Smash Bros isn't a fighting game, even the creator says so. Jaysonguy

You're on a stage trying to ring out characters using attacks; it's a fighting game, but not a traditional one by any means. Also,Nintendo themselves has it labeled as a "fighting" game.

Not a fightning game? First you say Nintendo created the tier lists, now you're saying it's not a fightning game? It's not a traditional type of fighting game, but dude...

How dare you bring evidence to the table? Next thing you know, you'll quote the dictionary...

BRAWL

–noun

1.- a noisy quarrel, squable, or fight.

2.- a bubbling or roaring noise; a clamor.

3. Slang. a large, noisy party.

... and then expect us to believe your English dictionary.

That's great but the guy that made the game considers it a sports game.Jaysonguy

Here's the exact quote:

Taken from the interview with him in the newest Nintendo Power when asked why he thinks Smash Bros is popular despite popularity in fighting games declining: "I think it's because it is, in fact, not a fighting game. The nature of it is similar to a sports game in which the player shoots an opponent as if it were a ball. The results are different [every time you play], which, I think, is also a unique and attractive quality of the game."

Notice his choice of words."The nature of it is similar to a sports game." He did not say that "Brawl is a sports game." He was describing (in a slightly vague manner) the unique nature of the franchise. In fact,it sounds like he was describing a party game, which describes Smash Brothers quite well, considering its fast-paced and chaotic multiplayer nature. It's a fighter, but not a traditional one. You're fighting against opponents on a stage and trying to ring them out by attacking.:|

I really doubt it's ignorance; stubbornness maybe, but not ignorance. He just seems to have a great love/hate relation with the game. It's likely he's never going to change his mind.

the fighting (which is a pretty improtant element of brawl..has to be said) doesent feel right. maybe its because they tried to add too many characters and keep them balanced....but the game feels slow (slow loading too for a nintendo title) and a bit....off. the brawl arenas are also not as good as melees imho....there a bit boring. lovely backrounds but, bar a few exceptions...there not really that interesting imho.

also subspace emissary is annoying...i preferred the SP modes in melee.

credit where credit is due..there is a massive amount of unlocks and the game looks great and runs smoothly.

Nothing is wrong with brawl. It's an insanely awesome game, that's all there is too it.
