Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Trauma Center: Under the Knife are bloody brilliant. Both don't really fit into a distinct genre so I can't really guess whether Hotel Dusk would appeal to you or not. It's much slower than Trauma Center and allows for free roaming but it's got a relatively similar difficulty level.
I only have Pokemon. My sister has New Super Mario Bros. and MKDS. I like them too, but MKDS gets boring after 4-5 races and Super Mario Bros. pisses me off when I can't get a gold coin -_-.
Meteos though... BEST game ever. Played it with my friend on DS DL play and it was a lot of fun. Just waiting for it to arrive in the mail because no gamestop's around here have the game...
New Mario Bros. is absolute class. A runner up would have to be Kirby: Canvas Curse, too, as it has some totally unique ways that showcase the DS, and it was released like what early 2005 :o
