[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]You never answered my question. What same-genre games have surpassed Zelda?

If we go with the whole medieval layout there's games like Elder Scrolls and Fable. When you think of the gaming landscape with those games they come to mind.
If you just want to go straight action adventure then there's a slew.
Mario on the other hand has had his fair share of contenders (most notably Sony with the Jak series and Ratchet and Clank) and still comes out on top. He's the defining character of the platforming genre and still rules the roost. Even now with his game being on "inferior hardware" to some.
lol I'll take Zelda over Elder Scrolls or Fable anyday
and I like Jak more than Mario honestly. It was like GTA in space with hover cars. I played that game so much I believe its the reason I wore out my PS2's laser resulting in its breaking
zelda TP and SMG were both big dissapointments and i am a huge fan of them both but they were just boring to me both of them...jznj03yjzn
Been A Fan of Mario ever since SMB 3 pure greatness and Galaxy just strengthens his legacy
