Piplup imo is the most useful starter pokemon. there are a lot of trainers with rock, ground and fire pokemon, including the elite four. its only downside is once its in its third evolutionary stage its also becomes a steel pokemon, but it can learn flying moves to combat fighting pokemon.
chimchar is strongest in attack i say get him then go find the other 2 starters by finding them in the GTS center(in other words its a place in jubilife city which is like an ebay 4 pokemon just connect the game to a wireless router if u cant find it its the blue building with a globe of the earth just in case u didnt know).
