I say SSBB but mario kart sold more than melee on gc and the one on the ds is almost at the 10 mil mark, so it will be a tight race between the two. WllDan7

Double Dash sold under 4 million.
Smash Bros Melee was upwards of 6 million. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smash_bros_melee
Smash Bros... hands down.
I think brawl will sell a ton right away(of course) then lay low for a very short time, than sell a ton again.
I think mario kart will sell medium at first for a very short time, then a ton with a huge peak of sales, then go back to a steady low-medium for a really long time.
In the end, i think brawl will win by just a little but it might be surpassed at some point, only to rise above yet again.
I think it's a no-brainer in favor of Mario Kart. This topic isn't about which game is better, it's about which one will generate more sales. And ultimately, every hardcore Nintendo fan will buy both games. So, the difference will come down to casual gamers. And in my opinion, Mario Kart will appeal to the casual fanbase moreso than Brawl.Nash-MVPx2
I thought "No Brainer" for SSBB, but this is a good point. I'll be getting them both, but casuals will lean more towards Mario Kart. True. Nash ftw.

I agree with the direction of your argument
There's is no doubt that history will repeat itself on the Wii and Kart will reign supreme

I agree with you both that Mario Kart reaches a wider audience and will sell a lot. However I will say brawl considering that it sold more than 1 million copies in less than 2 weeks in Japan ALONE. I gotta say brawl has a good chance of selling more and the fact that it will be realesed way before Mario Kart will only help brawl. Although it's anyones game.[QUOTE="WllDan7"]I say SSBB but mario kart sold more than melee on gc and the one on the ds is almost at the 10 mil mark, so it will be a tight race between the two. sonic_spark

The link you gave is awful and incorrect and the citation for those numbers come from a article bashing the Wii

On my copy of SSBM it says "best seller", so surely you can't mean that Kart sold the most last generation. Anyway, I'd say Brawl, simply because of the huge fanbase.

Yeah I agree with chris 100%. I always here you say JasonGuy the Mario Kart out sold melee but you never gave us proof. So, if you want to give a valid arguement give us proof and not your friggin opinion. Ranting and stating unproven facts as truth only makes you look foolish.[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="sonic_spark"][QUOTE="WllDan7"]I say SSBB but mario kart sold more than melee on gc and the one on the ds is almost at the 10 mil mark, so it will be a tight race between the two. chris3116

Since you asked so nicely (I swear how many times do I need to give these links? I've done it like a hundred times but people STILL post Wikipedia and think it's right)
Mario Kart 6.6 Million
Super Smash 6.58 Million
What makes Smash's loss worse is the fact that it had a two year lead as far as sales and it STILL lost.

Well if I read that right melee sold about 560,000 copies in the first 2 weeks. Whereas brawl which in a period of less than 2 weeks sold more than a million copies. So brawl seems to have even more poularity than melee. And those numbers were for Japan alone.Dare you to say that to Jasonguy. XDSSBB should sell more.
Mario Kart = ove . Don't give me that crud about "oh how could you say that, it's awesome" because it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
