I see a few good game coming out in the future for the Wii, but most of them (if not all) are 1st party. It's not JUST RPGs, I'm waiting for ANY good games to come out. Punch-Out will have to tide me over...
Don't get me wrong, I bought Super Paper Mario a few weeks ago, and I love it, but the near future is looking pretty grim.

RPGs aren't really that common of a game type in the first place. It's not surprising at all that there aren't many on the horizon yet. They'll come, just give it time. How many RPGs do you see out for PS3? Even the 360 for that matter? I'd hardly call it a shortage yet.theragu40Sadly, more than the Wii. If the Wii didn't have VC, there would only be two (correct me if I'm wrong) out.

Do any of them have actual release dates, or just speculated dates? It bothers me that Nintendo can't date much of anything that's coming out in the future.

Yes, that bothers me too. It seems like all they;ve really done so far, is made demos for most of the big games. Unless they are just trying to build suspense. It's a bad move either way.I'm getting pretty tired of the GAMES shortage, but luckily, I knew what I was getting in to when I bought a console this early and saved other people on this forum my whining.LitchieWhy post if you were going to troll?

I'm sorry, but I've seen tons of threads where people complaining about how little games the Wii have. The console is still fairly new. The same thing happened for the GC. I've no idea why so many are so shocked about how little games the Wii have. I'm sure we'll see RPGs in the future, but it's waaaaay too early to say that there's a "RPG shortage" for the Wii.

Still, if you look in the Wii section for RPGs here, you might cry out of shame.Right now there's more games that I want, than I have money to buy them with.
On top of my list are:
1. Super Paper Mario
2. Pokemon Pearl
3. Sonic and the Secret Rings
4. Guitar Hero 2
5. Bully
6. Wario Ware Smooth Moves
And that's just scratching the surface! Sure, these aren't all Wii games, but the point I'm trying to make is there's so much on my want list already that I can wait for newer stuff to come along.
My Wii hopefuls this year are (in no particular order):
1. My Sims
2. Mario Galaxy
3. Super Smash Brothers Brawl
4. Metroid Prime 3
Well there is that RPG game "Opoona" being made by Koei. There is also a good chance of a Final Fantasy XIII spinoff on the Wii, and there are rumors of a big Wii announcement at Square-Enix's upcoming showbc1391I was wondering when Opoona would be mentioned. I don't know quite enough about it yet to decided if it will be good. Yes, I;ve also heard that Square will do something big with the Wii. Here's hoping.
RPGs take forever to make and lots of developers aren't up to making one for the Wii because they think the Wii isn't worth it. Look at SSX Blur. It wasn't as good as it could have been since EA saw it as "It's just the Wii... Let's just make a quick-cash game".camreeno360It should be the contrary, lots of people are looking for something between an innovative, new RPG and an old-school. That could be accomplished, and be a sucess, if they tried. If only they would just try.
Those will be good, and I will probably get all of those, but I would enjoy some RPGs.Right now there's more games that I want, than I have money to buy them with.

I just hope it's not Kingdom Hearts.. :? And personally, I'm looking forward to FFCC: Crystal Bearers. Think FF:CC, but online. Sounds awesome to me.

Why not Kingdom Hearts. That would be great. I didn't really enjoy the Crystal Chronicles game. :([QUOTE="Litchie"]I was wondering when Opoona would be mentioned. Why not Kingdom Hearts. That would be great. I didn't really enjoy the Crystal Chronicles game. :(Because I despise Disney. Play as Mickey Mouse? No thanks. Crystal Chronicles was a great game with friends. It really, truly sucked that you couldn't play multi-player with the freaking GC controllers, though.
[QUOTE="camreeno360"]And I wish one could use a lot of the Wiimote possibility. Zelda's job was pretty weak.theragu40Is that a joke? Go back and play a Zelda game with standard controls and tell me that you don't miss playing on the Wii.I'm only a few hours in. What would I know?

Too true. I was hoping that Metroid Prime 3 would hold us over for the summer (Not an RPG but bear with me) but it looks like that got pushed back.
At least...there's *gasp* Mass Effect.

Still, if you look in the Wii section for RPGs here, you might cry out of shame.RPG's take a while to get out, they have longer development cycles than most games and require a large market to be worth the investment. Most of the RPGs are made in Japan take a while to be localised in other countries. The PS3 and Xbox360 have crap all RPG's aswell.
I want another Tales game!
your being a bit hastey with the chrystals chronicales thing, since there has only been 1 out before, and it's not exactly and RPG, it wasn't pushing a story line, and it was hard to get multiplayer working on it well
all of that has changed, and there has been no actually gameplay footage, only announcements
anyway, RPG's are in short supply on all consoles, they are EXTREMELY expensive to create, refine and release, they take HUGE amounts of time to do, they require extensive research into differant cultures and crafts, and they are a VERY risky business to pursue
and anyway the full fledged RPG genre is dying, it's become a sub genre to add into games these days, sad as it is it can seriously improve your perception in games, and can create new experiances
so don't expect a whole rampant charge of RPG's cos not only does that NEVER happen, but it's pretty likely the genre might die
The Wii is getting almost no good RPGs. Super Paper Mario was good and I really enjoyed it. I believe that I'l feel the same way about Dragon Quest Swords and Fire Emblem. Those are about the only Wii RPGs to look forward to. I know some people will say Crystal Chroicles, but I don't really think those games are too good. If we got some actual Final Fantasys I'd be happy. But those, I don't like. Also, there's Alien Syndrome, which I don't relly consider to be an RPG. All the other game under RPG on the Wii are practically Virtual Console games. Pretty much all the good ones aare coming out in Japan, though. Like Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem (VC). Who else agrees with me? The RPG gener is my favorite and it is not doing good at all on the Wii. Som people will say, "Go use the PS3!" or something like that, but I don't want unoriginal, bland RPGs. I want creative, Wii-Designed RPGs.Genuma
RPG's ?! dude. you bought THE WRONG CONSOLE. if your looking for RPG's

Miyamoto is a perfectionist. So they dunno when games will be ready.
I'm an RPG gamer first and foremost, but I'll tell you what: I didn't buy my Wii expecting a plethora of RPG's in the near or distant future.
Nintendo's consoles have been extremely lacking in this department since the N64 came out, and at this point, it looks like that trend's gonna continue.
I bought it for a fresh experience, and so far that's what its delivered.
"Man cannot survive on Wii alone." That's my motto. I know I'm going to have to buy one of the other 2 consoles to satisfy my RPG craving, and I knew that going in.Conjuration
Yeah, I have a feeling that once the 360 has a price drop, I'll probably get one. Don't get me wrong, I love my wii, but 1 REALLY good game every...5-6 months? Too few and far between!

On the positive side though with how successful the Wii is in Japan and the fact that I would imagine developement times would be a lot faster than PS3/360 games I think we will have plenty coming along in due time :). For the time being the best thing for an rpg gamer to do is pick up any ps2 rpg's they missed last gen.
yes, i am DEFINATELY really tired of this rpg shortage. im in europe, where we dont even have spm. so we have fo the wii, ZERO rpgs out. i really hope some come soon.hattyporterI don't understand why the UK and US don't get games at the same time. The voices and things are the same. Just different boxes.
