Just wanted to know who uses it for listening to music and how good it is compared to MP3 players? So....anyone? :D

my first dsi i got a 16gb sd card for like 70 and just dropped about 2,000 songs on it which took up 8-9gb. it only holds 3,000 songs and you have to seperate the songs into 100 on a file. plays great music. you can even go into different modes like radio or nes tunes. looking for a portable gaming machine and ipod wannabe...then ya its great. thing is you have to download itunes so you can put your music on it and transfer each song to the format it uses... i forgot which. then copy and paste to the sd card. wallaa. it works.Woe2spreadWow sounds great, sounds quality any good or is it really based on the headphones you use? Also AAC is a much larger format than mp3 correct?
I could have sworn you could leave it closed with headphones in and it'll play? Or am I wrong?I heard the sound is even better than the itouch. But im not going to put songs on it because you have to leave the ds open all the time to listen to it. What's the point of that?

kenny. aac is smaller compared to mp3. uses less mb per song. i got a pair of 20 dollar headphones at walgreens and the sound is excellent. you can even close the lid and still listen to music. a must have feature. anyways enjoy.Woe2spreadReally? Hmm I'm totally confused :P I'm hearing different things from different people.
I do. I prefer to have both portable games and mp3's on the same device, it's annoying having a pocket full of "essentials" when I leave the house, mp3's on the DS definitely helps take care of that.

AAC files will be larger than mp3 files. I own both a dsi and a psp but I wouldn't say the DSi sound quality is better or worse. It's just different. You can hear things in a song you couldn't hear on a psp. Also, the quality of the music through DSi speakers seems to be better than the PSP speakers(i compared the same mp3 files on both systems).
I use mine every day.
I used to have to decide between my DS or iPod to take to school, and then when the DSi came out, I never had to use my iPod Touch again.
Edit:
To the post above, I am also confirming that you can use it while it's shut. It only works with headphones in.
The sound quality is the same, if not better than iPods, but it would be a pain to convert all your songs to AAC. I only have around 75 songs on mine. There are some pretty sick sound features too (One takes out vocals, one makes it 8-Bit, one makes an echo, and the last one makes it sound like a radio). There's some other stuff too, like pitch, speed and recording.
I've pretty much phased out my old MP3 player in favor of the DSi. Sure it's a pain to convert everything, but the quality is good, and there are plenty of options. You can set it to play through all songs in order, loop the song, loop a particular section of a song, apply filters, and even change the pitch and speed of the song.
Don't use the 8-bit filter. It's basically the song in 8-bit plus random tuneless beeping and booping. You can barely discern the actual song. On another note, the vocal-removal filter usually works, but it doesn't work for some songs (i.e. blocks all sound).
A thing with the tempo/pitch adjuster is that it lets you change the gender of the singer in the song. Raising the pitch makes it sound like there is a female singer, and vice versa. It's really funny.
idk why ppl use dsi's for music players. I really prefer mp3 players reather than using a dsi. but thts my opinion. when I use a gaming device I only use it for gaming. :p
Yuck! You have to convert all of the files to AAC with a good convertor (one that does more then just change the file type, Itunes, for example) to get good sound quality, which takes time. And then, you have to have the DSI XL/DSi open to listen to music so it's in no way portable. And you have to organize your music manually.
Not to mention it's friggin' huge to carry around.
It's mostly for fun. Who'd use it for their MP3 player. I love my DSi but I stick to my iPod, fo sho.
