I'm a DS owner, and i love the games and the system itself. One of the best RPG's however is POKEMON... but being a teenager, i feel pretty embarassed to buy it at a local game shop. Gahh, I know i'm missing out, but there's no way you can get me to pick up a game of pokemon with everyone else there staring at me...

Does anybody else have a problem when it comes to buying childish games? Are you embarassed to buy certain titles from your game shop?

Dude, Pokemon is a great game. You shouldn't be embarrassed. And its kinda too complicated for kids, so don't say its a childish game :D

That game is not for under 10 years old kid. It's too complicated for a kid. So it's ok for you to buy it

I'm 22 and I had no problems announcing to the guy at the store that I wanted to buy Pokemon Diamond. Trust me, nobody's going to be staring at you if you buy the game. Nothing childish about enjoying a great game.

Like the guy above said. I am 22 and I went to Gamestop and bought 5 different pokemon games at once. he said, 'for the kids?' because my little brothers were with me who are 8 and 9. I said, 'Naw, I am getting all these so I can beat these fools down in'em' Now that's real talk.

They're just young. Now me, I'm OLDER THAN DIRT. I don't care what anyone thinks. I buy the games I think I will enjoy. I've walked in and bought a game and the clerk says 'is this for your grandchildren?' I always say, "HECK NO - it's for me!" :D They always look surprised but impressed.

Don't let anyone or anything take away the gaming.

Everyone that has a DS knows Pokemon is a popular game. Even though I don't like it, I don't think it's dumb for others to. By the way, I have a 7 year old and 8 year old nephew that love the pokemon games. They're pretty good too. So don't say that it's not for kids.

To a point yes. But When people ask me about it I ask them what games they play. Most of the answers will be unnapropriete games I don't agree with. so I turn it around byt making them feel guilty for playing M rated games. I have no problem with kids games.

I am like that too because I want Pokemon but dont have the cojones just yet to go out and buy it. So what I do is I wear a big black trenchcoat, but that doesn't help much because I am asian, so people tend to think I will go postal on them, so I have to find another tactic to buy games w/o being embarrassed. :D

My self esteem is where I can buy Super Princess Peach or Pokemon or Scooby Doo and be just fine about it.

It's an awful way to live that you feel so bad about your self worth that you can't buy the games you want.

The only decent game shops where i live are in huge major popular shopping centres. I constantly see my friends there, and i dont' want to seem like a fool if they see me buying a pokemon game.

It's all about popularity and what's wrong and right. Ergh, i know im missing out big time :(

maybe ill just order it off ebay or something

I'm at college now...playing Pokemon is almost like a requirement for our course. It's bizzare because between lessons you'll have 4-5 of the people on my course Pkmn'ing (and at a very high level like EV play and such) or Mario Karting. Funnily enough one of these guys is a total prog rock nutcase who at night goes round kickboxing guys bigger than him...during the day he plays Pokemon (and even Pokemon cards which have come somewhat back into vogue).

I was 19 and I bought Pokemon Diamond for my 7 year old neighphue the Christmas of 2006 and didn't feel the slightest bit embarrased I felt proud to be getting my neighphue such a kickass game... Wish I had an uncle that would have got me presents for Christmas. (All my uncles are and were douches) Christmas '07 I got him Zelda Phanthom Hourglass. After he was done with them I borrowed them and got to play them both; they're Superb games.

Personally I find games like GTA to be way more childish and immature then pokemon. Its not childish just because it has a whimsical look. Someone could say the movies Tim Burton makes are childish because they are whimsical. Get over it. Don't care what people think. Once I stopped caring what people thought of me I became a VERY happy person.

Thanks guys!

Thanks to everyone for reaffirming the fact that i SHOULD FEEL FINE buying Pokemon games. Tomorrow i'm going down to EB Games to buy Pokemon Diamond version.

I can't stress how much your words have encouraged me to make this decision. A week ago I would have NEVER even think about the possibility of me buying a pokemon game.

I definetly feel weird when other people are looking at me. Some don't realize that gaming is for all ages, they just go and make fun of you. If I get the game and go straight to the counter to buy it, I am fine because they don't always assume the game is for you :D

SirSnafflepuss

How very naive of you, majority of the top games are not M rated. Because a game isn't M rated doesn't mean its target audience is not for adults.

I used to be embarrassed about buying certain games, but it doesn't really bother me now. I know there's more enjoyment to be had if I decide to buy the game.

Put it this way. If you're denying yourself something you enjoy and truly want (a video game), the only person you're going to dissapoint is yourself.
