Why all the love for DK64. I bought it when it first came out and wasn't very impressed. Rare went WAY overboard with the collectible crap, so much so that it ruined the game for me. I stoped playing after about 5 hours and never had the desire to return to it. DKCR on the other hand is brilliant and a great homage to the Supernes games.
This game should probably sell better than other M though... we can't say for sure if a price drop is imminent. Not worth it on release
The game is going to drop fast this holiday season so wait a week and get it cheaper
Metroid Other M for 19 bucks should have taught everyone how this holiday season is going to go

I'm will only buy a Donkey Kong game when one comes out that IS NOT a sidescroller.
What dissapoints me the most is that Retro did this. They raised my expectations for game with Metroid Prime and then diminished them with this.
What were they thinking, if you make a modern Donkey Kong game, it damn well better resemble the near flawless Donkey Kong 64, one of the best 3D platformers of all time.

I prefer DK as a side scroller, at least compared to DK64. I am not saying they couldnt make an amazing 3D one, but DKC1, 2, and 3 are brilliant and this looks to be no exception, with Retro's quality work at hand.

The real reason why 2D was chosen is actually because it's more appealing to the 'casual' crowd, sells alot more.
Btw snover, there's nothing wrong with 2D gameplay. It's harder to amaze and innovate as with SMG, yes, but it's still damn good.
What is the point of 2 decades of game innovation if you just going to make a prettier version of a old game.
I am not saying that it isn't fun, I had fun playing NSMBWii, but still pales in comparison to the near perfect SMG2.
This game and New Super Mario Bros. Wii are on the top of my video game wishlist. When I get some money, after getting Christmas presents, they will be mine.

If you ask me DKCR is 1000x better than SMG. SMG is awful and DKCR is amazing greatness, my opinion.Seems crazy to call Super Mario Galaxy awful, but I do look forward to getting DKC Returns for Christmas... the first two games were among my favorites on SNES, and I downloaded DKC3 on the Virtual Console and still have to finish it.
I didn't like it. The main reason I bought the Wii again was because of SMG2 commercials I kept seeing on TV. I bought that game and thought it was terrible. I was just shooting around from small planet to small planet collecting coins with weird camera angles. To me there wasn't much of a point to it and it wasn't good at all. My friend loves the game though and I know a lot of people like it. I'm not a big fan of Banjo Kazooie either, I don't know why. I love NSMB and Donkey Kong though.Seems crazy to call Super Mario Galaxy awful, but I do look forward to getting DKC Returns for Christmas... the first two games were among my favorites on SNES, and I downloaded DKC3 on the Virtual Console and still have to finish it.

The market wants 2D sidescrolling games, I think that's become pretty evident when you can see that New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold more than Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 combined.[QUOTE="kontejner44"]

I made the jump to the third dimension before I was 10, that was a long time ago, any retail sidescroller just feels dated to me.
Still think DKCR should be a WiiWare title.
Yes well lucky for Nintendo and any one else with a common business sense, they did not make it a WiiWare title. m25105
If I do buy DKCR in the future, it will be at a time that the price drops below $20 cuz I'm not spending more than that on a sidescroller. Especially after my experience purchasing Kirby's Epic Yarn.

I have yet to get my hands on a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Donkey Kong Country Returns. But rest assured, they're both at the top of my wishlist.
DKCR is not a finish in a couple of days game. The later worlds get VERY hard. There were many levels that I spent 20+ lives to just finish. It takes a lot of skill, which Kirby Epic Yarn did not, but I still thought was a fun game. DKCR is a beast, and good luck with the time trials. You'll be pulling your hair out.
