Why? Why? I got one because they were a new idea with touch screen technology. Why did you choose this over say a psp? Was it really worth it? I thought so, but what do you think? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Alright? Ok i'll stop but why? (by th way i think it was great for me to get a ds so i vote definitely in the poll)

Thanks (vote in the poll)

I got a ds for3 reasons:

I had a lot of gba games and a game boy advance and was tired of always changing the batteries. I decided it was a waste to but a sp because it does the same thing as a ds but it just has a rechageable battery. waste of money.

Alot of the ds games i saw at the time had looked good and i played one before and they were great.

The idea of the touch screeen was so cooland it wokred well.

It was a good buy. i got it in 2 years ago and it still works like new.

Definetlya good choice

No question, definitely worth it. That's my answer... Ok, maybe more than it. :P All the innovative possibilities, the list of games to be released, the attractive price, the gba backwards compatibility... Why not a Psp? Simple: The Psp didn't win me either with its game list (consisting mostly of PS2 ports, at least at the time), its low battery duration (which doesn't make it very portable, if you ask me), and its price (at least an additional 50% as much as the DS). The additional factor that it was released 6 WHOLE MONTHS later than the DS was the final nail in the coffin for any possibility of me buying the Psp. That's why I, personally, chose the DS over the Psp. I still expect great things from Nintendo's little wonder. Whoever could tell me before the DS was released that you could actually play a surgery game on it that would actually not suck? Whoever could tell me that I could play a platformer without as much as touching the d-pad or buttons, but only with the touch-screen? Finally, whoever could tell me that I would no longer have to pause my game to have a look at the map, but just have a quick look at the top screen and whoever could tell me that by merely closing the lid of DS it could serve as both a sleep function and as a solution for some puzzles? (Simple, yes, but very useful!) These are just my personal opinions. You can freely dismiss them as pure garbage if you think that I am a Psp hater! :P

Bought a DS cause I've got a few GBA games, so it's only logical, BUT even if I don't have any GBA games at all, I'll still get the DS, it's more appealing and the games are really my cup of tea, enough said!

I actually didn't think too much about it.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, the last game "system" I had was a Gameboy Original and a few games!

I simply just wanted to play Super Mario Bros, and Mario Kart!

It was well worth the money!

I didn't choose it over my PSP. It was my second current gen handheld. I got it because there was a trade-in 6 GC games for 1 new one at EB GAmes and Pokemon had just come out. And there's always Mario :P

At first I had the Phat then I sold it and got the PSP. Then today I bought a new Lite because of all the DQ games and RPGs.

I originally got myself a DS for my birthday. It was just after the DS lite came out so I got the lite ( I've since traded up to the black version). At first I was pretty skeptical about getting a DS, and thought it was just a gimmick, but I was finally persuaded by the great games available. When I got it there were so many games I wanted to play, and so many more since. My friends initially made fun of me for getting a system made for children, but of course they all have one now, because we're all kids in some respect. I didn't get a DS over a PSP either, I actually got a PSP at launch, but the reason I got a DS was the same reason I got rid of my PSP, the amount of quality games (Oh, how I miss Lumines though!).

I got the DS because it had some cool looking games that I really wanted to play. It was NOT worth it since my DS Lite hinges just broke a week ago and the warranty is out dated :(

I got a DS because the dual screens and touch screen seemed to open up a lot of new possibilities, and I've always loved Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc. I play it all the time, it was definitely a great buy, but with the general lack of great, innovative games lately I've started to wonder if I should save up for a PSP... Brain Age and all of its clones can only be entertaining for so long. It's up to Revenant Wings and Phantom Hourglass to renew my optimism.

Definitely worth it in my book - for me, it is a great experience for me to look into different styles of handheld games, which I didn't really do on the GBA. The system has a great level of variety that continues to impress me, I love it.

I'm kinda happy I got the DS, it kinda sucks cause I lost my first one and then had to buy a second one. I've had at least 12 DS games and only 2 of them really sucked: Rub Rabbits and that surgery game. But apart from that the DS has some really awesome games, Nintendogs was easily the best.

I always do research before I buy any handheld system or even console. I choose DS over PSP is because

Firstly , I have some GBA games.
Secondly , I found out that Pokemon , Zelda , Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XII:RW is coming to DS
Thirdly , lighter than PSP
Lastly , better libaray (IMO)

There is more reason , but I guess 4 is sufficent

I originally got my DS to continue the Lunar storyline by playing Lunar Dragon Song (I wouldn't recommend that game if you don't know about the Lunar series). The DS got even better with the release of New Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy III, and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Yeah, my DS was definitely worth the money.

I got a DS partly because the touch-screen was intriguing, but also because the price of the games ($10 less than GBA cartridges, WOW!) was very appealling. Later on, I had a wide variety of games to choose from, and since DS games were so cheap compared to Wii games, I steadily expanded my library. I'm still playing my DS and loving it.

PSP sucks co it doesn't include any RPG game platform in the PSP system, as for my favourite final fantasy series and mana game made from square enix are cooooool. Thats why i own a DS machine. Way to go nintendo, and there's more good game coming out after this september. I can't wait my ff12 revenant wings and my incoming heroes of mana next two week from today.

I own a psp since launch (admit it - the obvious choice at launch was the psp) , then last summer I got bored with the PSP and buckled in to buy the DS Lite for a vacation (long plane ride) along with MK:DS and NSMB. Best decision console-wise I ever made!
