I'm just curious as to why all of you got a Wii.
For me, it was pretty much because it was the cheapest system. The fact that I like the franchises are there too, but if the PS3 was cheaper I would've gotten it... only because I loved my PS2.

I got it because of the motion controls and my love of all things Nintendo. I also like the puns I can make with "Wii."JAB991
So true.
"I put my Wii in the toilet."

For a number of reasons. But I suppose the cheapness was allured me the most. I'm on a tight budget and If I can get more games for my money, I'll do so. And since I dont have much money to constantly buy games, the smaller library hasn't affected me much. Although I have beaten all the major nintendo titles. But there are other reasons. I hated playing FPS on console until I played MP3 and you can't play a game like Trauma Center, Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox and Elebits on any other console. I like how they improved RE4 and its refreshing to play good games in a genres that I never thought I'd try.
Another part might be because I'm getting older. I've gotten sick of all the same type of games that have been remade over and over. It's like they produce good games with high production values, but the genre has become so stale that I kinda know what to expect.

Well I haven't seen it before, maybe I'm just not on enough...
Ok, this is my story
I used to own both a PS2 and a Gamecube and i really enjoyed both. Then came the 2006 E3 and i was really looking forwards for buying a PS3 but then i saw the horrible price tagg of $600. I also wanted the wii since Zelda, Metroid and other games were coming out on it. Since i saw that the PS3 had absolutely no games that attracted my attention, and still doesnt, i decided i would buy a wii because of Zelda and the low price tagg. Right now i dont regret it a bit and im gladd i did not buy a PS3 since i would be miserable with it.

well every generation me and my friends try and have at least one of each between us so no matter what a console a good game comes out we get a chance to play it without having to buy all three, and occassionaly we swap systems and games between us for a fresh experience without buying twenty games. and i was the last one to get a new console so i kinda got stuck with itjomaster007that is funny
It was the cheapest
Motion controlls seemed pretty inovative at the time(i say at the time because now it just seems they replaced pusing a button to jump with shaking your arm to jump which is not inovative at all)
and with the portables i put my fath in sony over nintendo when i purchased a psp and psp games turned out to be mostly bad untill long after the psp launch.
Got one because I asked for one for Christmas. Asked for one because I saw potential in the motion controls and I also love Mario and Zelda games, Virtual console, Gamecube backwards compatitiyllylt:P, but mostly because i love Nintendo.
Turns out I bought a 360 2 weeks ago and the Wii is only being used for Internet and Guitar Hero. I hope Nintendo doesnt disappoint me more then they have so far. Every game out right now is pick up and play like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. I guess its alright when i get tired of shooters, which is occasionally.
Because it was innovative, Because it had a 3D real time Advance Wars; because it was my first console ever; because it was named Revolution; Because i never had a console; because it *had* one on one motion controls; because it was going to be the bomb since the beggining!
Didn't regretted a single bit!
P.S. I'm now a sucker for the Zelda franchise and I am in the process of backtracking it !
Me and one of my friends are always talking about the future of gaming and the possibilities it holds, we had been discussing things like VR for years and how it would be implemented into games over the course of time. We also love games that generally buck gaming trends, like Breakdown being an FPS that uses fists instead of guns, or Steel Battallion, or Killer7.
tldr; I like things that try to be different and change the way games are played, motion sensing is a fantastic new way to play games, most developers haven't quite grasped what that really means. The Wii really is the future of gaming, and I was more than happy to be part of that.
Also I REALLY wanted to play Twilight Princess as soon as possible.
I tried a friends Wii and found that the expierence of playing was far more involving and entertaing than the 360 and PS3. It had a lot of games that my wife would play, and most of them are multiplayer. Granted, the graphics and online are nothing compared to some of the other systems, but all in all it's more fun.
