I have a very amusing story to go along with getting my Wii. So here it is:
Birthday was coming up, and my Mom said I could get a new system because she knows I am a gamer, but because of recent money issues we could never afford one. So she asked me what system I wanted and one game for that system. Well, it was hard debating between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Both were very good and MGS4 was coming out soon for the PS3. But, all of my friends had a 360, and I decided to get one of those so we could play on Live. Well, weeks go by my birthday slowly coming up. I'm playing Killzone on my PS2 when my Mom calls. "We are here at GameStop, we have decided to get your birthday present early. What did you want again?" I am like, 'Holy Crap this is awesome!' So I told her I wanted an Xbox 360 and Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. So there would be some suprise to what game they would get. So they say 'OK' and hang up. I immediatly call my friend and tell him the awesome news. He is excited because now we could play together. 30 mins later while I am still texting my friend on how cool this will be, my parents come home. I hear them drive up and wait by the front door. Ever slowly they unlock the door and open it. My Dad walks into the house, in his hands... a Wii. The only system I did not want. But of course I have to nice and be like 'Ahh! A Wii! Awesome!' Even though I am crying on the inside. They say that they knew I wanted a 360, but the Wii was more "family orriented". They had gotten Mario Kart Wii, for it which was a bright side, but still.
Well there you go.

Wow. That sucks. It was your birthday, so they should've gotten what was in the best interest for you, not the family. The family gifts should be saved for Christmas/Hannukah/whatever holiday you celebrate.
well for me it was a choice between 360 and wii. however it was the price tag that made me get one. so far i got brawl....but i plan to buy great games like medal of honor heroes 2, mario kart wii, and such. plus pretty much everybody has a wii so i could play with friends and i could tell my friends to bring their wii controllers over because i only have two.
plus i thought about it:
Xbox 360 - $350(its 300 now but 350 when i bought my wii) extra controller - 400$ total, plus game like halo 3 - 450$ total, xbox live 1 year - $500 total. plus more games. so if i bought a 360 it would cost me that much because i would buy all that at once so i get playin as soon as i get home and play with friends with the the extra controller, plus i may need more controllers so thats more money. then again i would also need the $100 xbox 360 wifi adapter so $600 total!!!!! so i thought forget that man! (correct me if these prices are wrong)
Wii - $250 plus extra wiimore and nunchuk and i bought brawl when i got it. it was like $350 total plus free online.
yeah so the wii is wat i got. i love my wii its awesome and it has great games.
I could not vote.. my reason is not there...
I`m a Old-school gamer that had to seel her games of NES, SNES.... so the moment I read... future acces to past library, I was sold out. Finally the change to get and keep forever in my lil white box.. Castlevania Collection and others (now if N would be so nice of releasing the others CV games, specially CV3 :P )
Now the reason why I got it 1st was bc it was the cheapest... atm I own a ps3 as well... but, yea that was the reason to get only the Wii 1st ...
Enjojy gaming everyone..
brawl alone would've made me buy it. the virtual console was also a huge plus then there was metroid prime 3. the motion controls werent all that important to me tbh
Well thsis oughta be easy to answer, well its not full of FPS like xbox, its kinda hard to name a popular xbox game that isent a FPS, its cheaper than the Ps3 and more original and unigue, the games are more versitle, FREE online, nintendo VC games, And it has hannah montana games for the DS *ultimate pwnage on the frag fest part
