i find them fun and they typically have good stories, everyone is different. luckily for you there are enough games that you dont even have to pick one up ata store and look at it
I agree about the walkthrough - but the story is so absorbing that I find that I just HAVE to finish the game. I'm a sucker for a good storyline! :D
Great story lines, endless game play (even when ya beat the final boss the game doesn't end there). and imo they are easy to play with or without a walkthrough , if I get stick I just ask on the DQ board and get a reply in a matter of minutes. A ton of options as far as gear and weapons go.. and after you beat the game the story becomes yours to play as you see fit/fun.
Over all as far as an rpg goes DQ is my all time fav, i wouldn't trade it for the world..
DQ IX and ror are great compaired to the older ones, has a ton more options.
I've never been a fan of the dragon quest series, but the really old ones, where the name was dragon warrior, were amazing. Dragon warrior 2 cobi's journey is one of my favorite games of all time!ZachMastaIn Japan they were always called Dragon Quest, they had to change the name to Dragon Warrior in America because it conflicted with the name of something else.

I did not know that : p I don't understand why a lot of the monsters have remained with new iterations in the franchise, yet they receive new names.
Play Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2 and you can appreciate it for what it is...... I only played the first six after playing the eighth, wonderful experience.
i've never played a dragon quest game in my life, but considering how OLD dragon quest really is ( somewhere around 1986) i think it would appeal to people who've had experience with those kinds of games or people who are fans a dragon ball Z and want to play some other games created by that person (whoever made dragon ball Z made dragon quest. the artwork is just too similar)BocskarAkira Toriyama. He does some pretty good work. But really, Dragon Quest games are like the bare bones, traditional RPG experience. You on an adventure, gain allies, fight monsters, stop some evil bad guy and save the world. While series' like Final Fantasy and other modern RPGs tend to continue to grow and change into different forms, Dragon Quest will always be pretty much the same - and a lot of people appreciate that in an ever-changing world.
